    Hello Friends,

during all my years living at my parents' place there was this reproduction on the dining room wall :

    005.jpg

time have past, but ... i still have this litography in my head ... Then i found an anatomical bust from beyond miniatures, i bought it without any particular idea but : my Mom reminded me about this paint by Pierre Yves Trémois ( https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Yves_Trémois )

and suddenly i had a project in mind !

actually i'm in the concept phases and tried some experiments :

    004.jpg

this is the bust, Now i want it to have a background ... hopefully representative of Trémois' work ... i want to experiment the 3d effect of painting on transparent layers so here is a very rough draft ... just to see the effect :

    001.jpg 002.jpg 003.jpg

here i am now, waiting for a monkey to be delivered sometimes ...

As I said, the background will be way more bigger than the draft shown here ... it was just a test to validate the 3D effect :)

This is going to be a very long project, this is not just painting a figure, i want to show an artist work and eventually humbly bring it into our century ... the journey is just beginning :)

I will publish the steps here, i hope you'll comment all along the process as your feedback will be invaluable to me !

    hello my friends

the project is still "on" but i'm still waiting for the other actor to be delivered. i've ordered various monkeys i've found on the internet, from wood statues to toys ...
and i'm slowly thinking too of using the excellent Orangutan bust from Robot rocket miniatures ... i will make a choice when those possibilities will arrive here :)

today i will start painting the human bust ... let's see where it goes ;)

and finally i've found the title for this piece : 3T ... for Tribute To Tremois

    stay tuned for more !

    hi friends,

continuing on the concept ... some touch ups on the skin but not so much and start on the dark side of humanity

    010.jpg 011.jpg 012.jpg 013.jpg 014.jpg

still so much to go but i'm quite happy with the direction it's leading to :)

Is it a monkey or a great ape, of which there are six species: homo sapiens sapiens, gorilla, chimpanzee, baboon, orang utan and gibbon?

The original painting shows a baboon, unfortunately i didn't find any in this scale so ... i will have to use another species. Not really a problem as this is a Tribute and not a copy of the original piece :)

back on track with this one,

fortunately i was lucky to find an OrangUtan from Robot Rocket miniatures this last spring during a convention we had in Quebec !
scale is perfect for my project and it even adds another dimension being a mother !

so after priming it with black i started on the faces today, and this is all a challenge as this is not human flesh !

as a base i used African Shadow mixed with black then highlights were : Sandalwood and finally Birch (all mixed up together progressively)

eyes : whitesands, then irises with redbrown and finally black, hint of pure white for the light.

    so here i am :
