Correction: Canada did not come into use until 1791..origins being Kanata from 1530s ..no such thing as Canadian Officer in 1758..nice sculpt I suppose but ...more imaginative than historical

Hi, absolutely not. Canadian militias played an important role in the 7 Years War:

Much of the fighting in the North American colonies for the French in what is known as the French and Indian War was in fact conducted by French-Canadians. As early as the 1740s, Canadians born in New France made up the majority of forces allied with Native Americans in staving off the spread of British settlers into the contested Ohio Country. Years prior, Canadian militia had cut their teeth fighting New England settlers during King William’s War (1688-1697) and Queen Anne’s War (1702-1713).

Well-versed in moving and fighting through the wilderness, these French-Canadian militiamen proved to be highly effective during the FIW against British regular forces yet to adapt to a very regional style of warfare. Their successes at the Battle of Fort Necessity, the Battle of the Monongahela and the Battle of Fort Oswego dealt hefty blows to the British war effort. Irregularly clad in rugged back country clothing and armed with muskets and native hand weapons, the Colonial French militia struck a rugged look as they fought on behalf of the French Crown in Europe.

..canadien is the correct term...it’s semantics but important to Canadian and my Quebec heritage..This was Novelle France. So Anglo names don’t suit the romance of the piece

And am not trying be a jerk...I just that the militia were not anglos. If I hadn’t paid for three samurai this morning I’d be all over it. And may yet

Okay, I didn't mean to disrespect you. We have only taken the name from a long time that we have re-edited and for 20 years it has had this name.

And the anglicized name jumped out for me..it’s a period we both are passionate about..underserved in popular history as the history was written large by the winners and the social complexity of nouvelle France deliberately squashed..do you have any information on the officer corps of militia- references are limited as militia don’t get covered by records of all the individual names amongst those who fought at Quebec ..but wonder if officers might have been assigned from France..the nominal unit heads did come direct..of course everyone was within a generation or so of France..I was born in Quebec City, lived at Beauport..so the whole thing resonates ..from the French side the history was pretty much deliberately forgotten tho

Unfortunately, we don't have much information on the militia. For this figure I had thought of re-editing it because it is a historical period that few model houses offer, while instead they have fascinating stories.

You are right..everything from the romantic “continental militia” of movie Last of the Mohicans...militia generally is attributed a lesser quality than regulars, and often true..but in North America militias played a material part and had special roles..and then we have the present day militias- yuck

Noted and thanks. We prepare the package and send it tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, the slowness is the fault of the server which we will soon change with the new year.

Yes, definitely québécois do not have any affinity to France, nor France towards Quebec...however at this period there were very few beyond First Nations who were not first or second gen from France..post battle of Quebec francophones faced ongoing discrimination and emergence of Two Solitudes between the cultures..
