    Hi Martin

Come on how did you do the fringes ....very sharp scissors ?

    Looks really good

Look forward to the positioning ......possibly behind the bust or hanging down at the front ??

    Happy benchtime

I've just made the top of the flagpole again - it's about a third smaller than the first - and therefore more to scale ...

The flag cloth is glued to the flagpole (commonly known as brass rod, 4 mm in diameter)!

And like the original, it only hangs on the small tabs ...:

Then the flag is carefully "set in motion" over a thick brush handle - and then I get annoyed about the gold fringes that have already been modeled on!

They don't follow the movement of the flag at all! I should have waited for that!

So the "gold fringes" come off again.

Then the flag is mounted on the base - and then I start remodeling the golden fringes.

And this time they "blow" also "in the wind" - like the entire flag ...:

    Hi Martin

Nice result on the flag especially the fringes , you have a lot of patience my friend

With the column it's certainly a eye catching base

Look forward to the next update

The flag with fringes is finished ...:

Tomorrow I will continue with the flagpole - I want to mount the top and then paint everything.

As for the top, I've built another one - the third! - again a bit smaller than its predecessor, but this time made of metal!

The border is made of 1 mm tin solder, which I previously squeezed flat with pliers, the star is Christmas tinsel made of tinfoil - and the "Molot-Serp" is made of 0.5 mm tin solder.

The hammer and sickle consist of five parts, some of which are tiny!

    So much for today

    Cheers

The flagpole got its "wood" design - by using these colors ...

    ... and quickly painted "wet-in-wet".

And the tip that gave me so much work is mounted ...:

Tomorrow I want to model the "shoe" of the tip and then paint it in "brass".

I also decided to make two flag ribbons ...

    Cheers

Catching up a bit ...that finial is amazing , 5 parts to it ...that's detail and small ....looks good

The flag looks really good , well painted on the lettering as well as the fringe work

And now your adding streamers !! .....

This is some basework for sure ...purely a personal view point from me but hope it doesn't detract from the actual bust details

    Thanks for update

Look forward to seeing more today

    Happy benchtine

Now our flag will be decorated a little!

The 39th Rifle Brigade was collectively awarded with the "Order of the Red Banner". Here is one from my collection ...:

During the earlier phase of the war, for example during the Battle of Moscow in 1941/42, this was a very high award - towards the end of the war, at best, an average one, because from 1944 onwards a veritable flood of awards from newly created medals poured out over the Red Army.

Such collective awards were usually worn as ribbons on the troop flag.

They looked a little different than ours in the west, they were much narrower, much longer and they wore a yellow tassel at the bottom ...:

The flag ribbon in this case consisted of a slightly widened copy of the respective ribbon - in our case this one - the ribbon of the Order of the Red Banner...:

I made this ribbon out of gold paper today ...:

While the paint was drying I kneaded the tassel - this time it is made of "Fimo" over a "core" of a pin ...:

    Here both together ...:

Finally the ribbon and tassel were glued together and attached to the flagpole ...:

And at the very end I painted the tassel yellow and the flag tip with brass paint ...:

No doubt ...Martins putting as much into the base as the actual bust .....good on him ...it was enough to paint the bust for me !
