    Hi everyone

This is now on my bench after the Russian Veteran ...something a little less complicated ...but still with medal ribbons

Sculpted as a major ( rank on wrong way round ......so ....

I resculpted the rank badges and promoted him to Lt Colonel , also reworked the rank lacing to a hopefully better representation !

I have added a helmet flash for the Lancashire Fusiliers who of course fought at Gallipoli , adding rear and arm flashes

Also added a staff officers badge to the front of the helmet and tge armband will be a signals officer

Here's some of the references I am using (Thanks to Neil W for his help )

    All comments welcome

Looking forward top seeing this and glad to have been of assistance.

His neck looks rather scrawny... will you do anything about thickening it up?

I agree about the neck, although, being picky, I would also say the shoulders look too narrow. It has a caricatured look, IMO....(y)

Agree ref neck but no leaving as it its , quite like the scranny look ....this must be at least 20 years old !!

Thanks Steve , yes your right on both counts but pure painting ...I'm no sculptor !!!

Thanks Scott nice to have you look in

Just like in the 'New Tricks' TV programme when a Commander RN had his left shoulder rank slide on back to front (i.e. with the executive ring at the shoulder, not the neck).

For those of us brought up on a 2oth/21st century diet whose uniforms appear to shrink with the passing years (!), it is worth rmembering just how thin many of our forebears were, especially in climes where malaria and gastric upsets were the norm rather than a rarity.

Very true, Mike. As a reference, though, here is my uncle Albert on his embarkation to Egypt, then on to Mesopotamia in 1915. A man barely over 5' tall.(y) Albert 1915.jpg

Very cool, Nap. Even has that look of arrogance so typical of a staff officer (if you're a current or former staff officer I'm just kidding). I'll be following with interest.

I also have this reference, although it is sometime after the Great War. My maternal grandfather, 1927, Shanghai Defence Force. The tropical uniform differed little from 1914 - 18... Note that the officer's shirt is darker than the tunic. Shanghai Defence Force.jpg (y)

I did one of these when it came out, years ago. Nice to see one again, obviously much more accomplished than my effort!
