Hi everyone,

I'm Andrew. I'll jump right in. I first discovered this hobby when I was 13. As most young teenagers who find the hobby, I was introduced to Space Marines from GW. I think they were 2nd edition minis at the time and it was right on the cusp of 3rd edition. Anyway, we weren't particularly wealthy so it was really hard to get my hands on any miniatures, so I never really practiced much. In my 20s I tried to get back into the hobby, but life happens and it fell away again. In my 30s I kept thinking about little toy soldiers and how cool it is to paint them, but I never jumped back in.

Fast forward (I'm old enough to remember VCRs lol) to 2020. I've just come back from a 6 month stint in Colombia, with fresh enthusiasm to tackle various life changes and personal creative hobbies, miniature painting being one of them. So I dove in, splurged... and Covid hit. It should have been a good time to get some painting done, but alas, no. I've been struggling with some serious health issues since around March 2020, and still going at it now. So I didn't really get to paint much at all. But this year my desire to paint is roaring like a raging inferno. Perhaps 2021 will be the year I can clear up the health issues, sort out some life changes, and finally paint the minis I always wanted to paint.

I've got a project I'm working on right now, which I'll post about in the Newbie forum at a later stage, and I hope to share the re-emergence of this hobby in my life, to bare witness in your own journeys as well, and hopefully to learn from you much wiser and experienced individuals. Anyway, that's me. I look forward to getting to know you all.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm interested primarily in fantasy and sci-fi minis, but I also enjoy historical and contemporary subject matter as well.

Thank you all for your kind words. Yep, health issues should take me a while to recover from, but progress is being made surely.
