Anton Hoffmann ( April 10, 1863 in Bayreuth; died 1938 in Munich) was a German painter and illustrator. Hoffmann drew several series on the uniform history of the Bavarian army. In addition, he created numerous illustrations for children's books, history books, and textbooks [(c) Ken Sullivan].

He's already listed by Martin64 but these show his incredibly wide range of work and styles (note the WW1 propaganda):

As ever, Uniformology have a good selection from two of his key series:
    WORLD-09-BLUEKING (uniformology.com)
    UID08 (uniformology.com)

There's also a Pinterest of his work here: (108) Pinterest
(all credit to sculptor Ken Sullivan who also curates sites for other war artists as well as a nice selection of figs and re-enactors)

Already covered by several others but this Pinterest by Ken Sullivan brings a lot of his work together in one place:

Uniformology also have a good selection of his work on the French Army of the late 1800s:'

A couple of listings already, but again Ken's Pinterest draws together a range of Brandts' work:

Georges Bertin Scott (1873–1943) was a French war correspondent and illustrator for the French magazine L'Illustration during the early 20th century [(c) Ken Sullivan]

I suspect that this is the same Scott listed by Dan here.

Yet again, thanks to Ken for bringing together a range of his work:

Stanley Llewellyn Wood (1866 - 1928) was a Victorian English illustrator, noted for his prolific output of scenes featuring horses in action. His illustrations were widely used in boys' adventure stories. - Wikipedia

Listed by Ritchie here, Ken Sullivan's Pinterest offers a wider range of his work.

Interesting mix of press illustration, gung-ho empire and boys' own adventure (I'm sure I must have seen some of his work in those dusty, musky Boys Own annuals I inherited from some family member :))

Frank McCarthy (born 30 March 1924 — 17 November 2002) was a prolific American artist and realist painter renowned for advertisements, magazine artwork, paperback covers, film posters, and paintings of the American West. Born in New York City, he studied under George Bridgman and Reginald Marsh at the Art Students League of New York then attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn [(c) Frank Sullivan]

Specialist in the old west, both for pulp cowboy fiction book covers and artworks.

Peedee listed him, but much more from a dedicated dealer site and Ken Sullivan:

Moritz Ruhl: German lithographer and publisher in the 1890s-1942.

As noted, a publisher rather than an artist himself, he used a variety of as far as I can tell un-named artists.

Uniformology have 22 sets of his publications online (and note that as some were only postcard size the quality isn't always good).

Nevertheless, useful reference for late C19 early C20th some unusual units such as the Imperial Japanese, Chinese, Balkan, German Colonies armies, the Papal Guard and so on.

Some sets also give useful uniform and decoration details.

Have not seen a post for a while and am new. Have seen few naval images and none by the great Geoff Hunt so here is a combo naval/Napoleonic. The Heavyweights - HMS Victory, Temeraire, and Neptune, cleared for action. Skol!

    Hi Robert,
    Welcome to PF.
I've added Geoff Hunt to the list and linked your post accordingly.

I've located a couple of references about him and a superb collection of his paintings.
Here's a taster from his Jack Aubrey collection:-

His story can be found on Wikipedia:-

and a very large collection of his paintings can be found at:-

Well, now that this thing is working, I really enjoy your post. Military graphics have been a thing with me since before I could read. It is pleasant to note that at least one prediction of the mavens of the computer age laid down decades ago did come true, the images gathered on this site would have taken a lifetime of assimilation in the print age. Now they are available at our fingertips. I am collecting Napoleonic images and am interested in the illustrators. Have run across a few which I cannot identify and am seeking assistance. Any help appreciated. A French dragoon tries for the flag of the Tobolsk Regt (2).jpg France - Spain, Regt of Infantry Joseph Napoleon (2).jpg Russian Cossack (2).jpg
