Glued his arms on and filled in the gaps, needs to dry for 24hrs then to be sanded. Base layer painted onto his face, eyes painted in

Sanding and re painting the joins at this stage would scare me to death

Trouble is under his left arm is a lot of detail, so had to paint separate to the body, should only need a swipe of some sanding sticks

    So,
Filler sanded and areas touched in, not 100% happy now paint is on, so will probably go over again with the skinny sanding sticks.boots painted in green grey, so black could be used as a shadow, highlights with pearl grey. Dirtied up with vallejo burnt umber and ochre pigments. Yellow staining added to his gauntlets using a mix of buff and naples yellow

Burthe 2.jpg Burthe 1.jpg Burthe Head 1.jpg I am, as you can see, having some difficulty in getting the post to behave! I remain a bit behind you Steve, but am making some progress. I have not yet "misted" the white layers on the horse, but think I may get there this weekend. Bill 1.jpg

The left eye on my copy isn't as defined as your copy.

Why not create a thread showing all your hard work as well. Would be good to see.

Yep he was, quote a bit sanding needed to get it close to a good fit and a bit of filler. Think Capt. Warren had the same issues

I have found that a heat gun, as used by aeromodellers, is quite good at straightening warped parts although I haven't used it on anything as big as a horse. You have to be careful not to overdo it as well.

Knowing my luck, I would over heat it and up with a 'wonkey donkey'

A quick email to pete Watson at petes bases , and a few days later the base has arrived, its a gorgeous piece of wood measuring 40x13x3cm (approx). Pen marks are mine so I know where to line up to drill a few peg holes. Hope to get a sheet of A3 paper later so I can show the whole lot together. Suffice to say its massive and tall!
