War of the Worlds related dit:
A work colleague of mine has a holiday apartment in Spain. One day he went into a bar there feeling a bit parched, sat down at the bar & got chatting to another customer whose face he thought he recognised. After a short while, he realised who he was talking to - Justin Hayward. He was a really nice guy too, very self-effacing.

"War of the Worlds" on vinyl. Bought this when it first came out way back in time and still listen to it, all four sides. True classic for my listening taste. "Forever Autumn" is one of my favorites and makes for a great earworm so now I must dig this out of my vinyl stash again.

The original vinyl classic, with the biographies of all the contributors & that fantastic artwork. Bought that in November 1978 & played it to death, then bought the double cassette & finally the CD, which I've still got. Wife bought the first restrike CD, which I wasn't keen on, & then she bought the second, more recent restrike with Gary Barlow doing a lot of the songs & Liam Neeson replacing Richard Burton on voiceover - I hated that version & she didn't like it either. It ended up in the charity shop delivery.

Oooh Laah.......I found it somewhat amazing that there was someone else that could relate to this music. I had to dig it out and listen again, all four sides. Nap, you're right....Phil Lynott said his piece..love Thin Lizzy.....Makes me wonder.....Am I that old or am I that young....

Me, i listen to most things, and my wife doesn’t like any of them much ;) I have an extensive collection on vinyl and a fair collection on CD.....when I’m painting I listen to rock on a smart speaker mostly though. I use my main system for vinyl when she’s out so I can turn it up a bit (OK, a lot). My favourite classic rock albums are probably The Wall by Floyd and Thick as a brick by Tull. The only genre I have never really quite got is C and W. Love classical as well, that’s about a third of my vinyl collection (1500 discs) and is the only place to find true vinyl bargains these days.

You cannot beat the pioneering album Kind of Blue. Been into Jazz, not the smooth stuff, since the 60's along with some other genre's that is very eclectic. These days my leanings are toward piano jazz with Michel Petrucciani being my fav.

When it comes to music, I’m all over the map in what I listen to generally. At work (software engineering), I’ll steer more towards my rock/alt playlist (lots of Portishead, Pink Floyd, Decemberists, some Tom Waits, La Luz, so many to list). But I also have an extensive classical CD collection. I’m very picky about the classical. I’ve played classical music since age 10, so I’m especially keen on things I’ve performed. Favorite classical works include Pictures at an Exhibition, Dvorak's 8th or 9th symphonies, plenty of Saint-Saëns, Mozart, etc.

As a software engineer have you heard the synthesised classical albums of the late Isao Tomita ?
Admittedly not everyone's cup of tea, but astonishing stuff nonetheless....

I used to make my own music and my wife really didn't like my music even though I write songs about her. Sometimes women are just savages who doesn't care about others' feelings.

Well,... if it's any consolation to you. I make my own music too. After my wife makes a dinner of lima beans and cabbage it's really the only time my wife and I are able to harmonize together. And we're both pretty good singers.
