    Morning all
Following on from my earlier thread I've now completed the first of this little batch of figures :)

As usual it took longer than expected to finish the painting and this wasn't helped by repainting most of the skin and white clothing which had already been done (No real reason other than I wasn't as happy with it and thought it needed more contrast so started by just tweaking the shadows a bit and then a bit like Topsy it just sort of 'growed' from there)
The figure is Semper Fidelis 75mm which I managed to buy from the owners personal stock (they're now out of production) I removed the shield and strap, added the neck scarf and tweezers and modified the waistcoat to a civilian version from the cut down cavalry jacket. The Gideon is scratch built from a mix of Duro and magic sculpt on a bamboo staff with a top from a railing kit in the spares box.

Anyway all based up now onto a nice bit of wood from Oakwood Studio's (via Kev. Cheers mate (y))
    Basework is all Das.

Thanks Kev (slowly using up those bases);)

The kit did come with a rather nice rocky type base, but I wanted something a bit different so the idea for this came from a Frank McKarthy painting (I may add a lizard hiding in the shadows at some point, but I was getting a bit bored seeing this one on the desk)

    Cheers

Full of character...lots of drama...Super piece. But how about a brighter
background - something full of light and arid heat reflecting the climate
    of the Arizona desert ?

    Thanks guys :D

I'll try another background later just for you Mike (I think you are right it would work well)
To be honest my 'studio' is an old translucent waste paper bin with a cut out and a black paper background glued to the inside. I stand it over the figure and take a few snaps through the cut out - dead posh!:ROFLMAO:

Love a bit of high tech Mike :D

Here are a few pictures using a print of an Arizona sky with a few clouds behind the figure. Thanks to Fogie for the idea - I prefer this set personally

Adding a different background isn't something I've considered doing before now, but as you say completely change the feel. Hat's off the Fogie for the suggestion (y)

Paul, Well done buddy! Excellent looking piece of work! I bought this kit when it came out as I am a big fan of the American SW and Apache Wars. The figure has so much character and the action is awesome. Love the attention to detail as well!

Thanks for sharing your work! :) I really like your skin tones. You did an excellent job!(y)
