Rittmeister of the Bavarian 3rd Chevauleger Regiment- Kronprinz. This bust was produced by Legion Miniatures. Although not the most colorful cavalry uniform of the Napoleonic era, this is a nice bust. The tall Bavarian Raupenhelm shako is certainly distinctive, but it’s height must have made it unwieldy in the field.

Nice sculpt and paint work. How was the shako held in place?

There is a pair of chinscale like devices, that must have buckled under the chin. In the kit, those are folded up around the back of the helmet. I found a number of photos of surviving examples, but none of them showed this clearly.

Thanks, l guessed there must be something but was intrigued as there was no evidence on the sculpt. Can just see evidence of something in the final picture..

You have brought out the character of the face very nicely and that shako gives the bust an individual place in the cabinet.

Thanks, Keith, It is a unique bust for certain. It would have been nice if the chinscales were a bit more clearly defined, but the overall level of detail is quite good.

    Hi Kurt

That's a real nice paint on the bust , like the work on the helmet and the uniform colour , not the most colourful as you say but distinctive with that high helmet

Great rendition of this piece Kurt. Really interesting subject and something a bit different from the norm.
