Me too! Now I really feel my shortfalls as a painter! But what a great book. Time to hunker down and start savouring. Just have to make sure I don't drop it on my foot.

Word of warning regarding when reading this book.
DO NOT get any moisture onto the text or it will smudge or completely erase. Found this out the hard way when I rubbed my face while reading the book and transferred some oil/sweat onto my fingers, then without realising touched the text on the page which instantly smudged and nearly erased.
Really surprised that the printing is not permanent at such a price!!!

Thanks..seems off for a so called handbook to not be user friendly on a work table

Ah in the name of whatever (****) come on, someone is selling a book for this price without the print being permanent, further more I have just been notified that my copy has just been delivered to my collection point and it's raining here LOL.

The main cause of ink rub off is due to ink not dry properly and the type of ink and paper used for printing the book. The ink is absorbed by the inner fibers of the paper and remains slightly damp because most of the paper is not exposed to the air to evaprate. There is also another problem for a thick book of perfect binding the pages may detached fall off from the binding after repeatedly open and close.

So should this problem resolve after a period of time and the pages have been opened a few times to air out?
It is almost like the book has been printed on a inkjet printer with how the text is effected by moisture, I have never experienced this with a book before.

My copy just arrived- one tank of a book..not something to have sitting at the desk..but definitely one stop shopping ..will revert in due course of my impressions vs Ammo By Mig encyclopoedia.

Given what this ended up costing me, I will probably use white gloves when I read it and sit in a hermetically-sealed room. :) But I am enjoying (carefully!) reading it. And thanks for the heads-up about moisture. No sipping coffee while I study.

Just cracking cover- sorry that may be inappropriate comment on this book- but I have to swallow my words- it’s more than a shill for AK..the contributors include Calvin Tan, Sergey Popovichenko..and each potted segment shows a range of brands not just AK..so say a photo of oils speaks to the nature of oils, and shows 502, but in midst of Russian, other brands..primers include Tamiya etc...
vs Ammo by Mig, I sense less overt product display..plus the ammo series covers 4 books with some repitition, although Ammo has some cool stuff on say sculpting a Demi flat...that may not be in Kirill book

Maybe the idea of "deconstructing" the book and binderizing isn't so outrageous. It would make it more useable in a practical sense.

And yes, it’s deeper in concepts and theory than Ammo; stuff on colour theory, triads etc..selections for harmony..very nice..will see, but at this point am pleasantly surprised..will look for discussion on colour value ...
certainly respecting content it’s worth the price and nobody made a mistake ordering

Just a thought ...are the publishers of aware of the issues mentioned above ?

Far too expensive to have these sort of things happen IMO

It depends on the type of paper, ink and printing press. They must be in a hurry to get the book printed to ship it out. It may also varies from batch to batch depends when the book is printed on a digital press or offset printing. A digital press used toner while offset press used printer's ink. I would wait for couple of months let them fix the problem before any purchase.

Take some pictures of of your smudged pages and contact AK. They should send you a replacement.
