The orange shades that I used for the lace and trim are all combinations of Vallejo 911 Light Orange and Scalecolor Artist 22 Orange. The shadows are Scalecolor Artist 37 Red Ochre. For the highest highlights I added a bit of Reaper 09143 Yellowed Bone to the Light Orange.

For the black leather on the shako peak and the cross belts, I fist painted them with Vallejo Panzer Aces 337 Highlights German Black, which is a medium muddy brown shade.

I then painted thin coats of Vallejo 70.950 Matt Black over the top until I was happy with the look. This approach allows the brown to show through the black overcoat to whatever degree you’d like. Using light coats of the black gives you this glossy look with nothing added.

Then, I added scuffs and scrapes with a light fleshy brown shade, although I don’t recall which color I used at the time.

I’ve found this approach works well for black boots as well. Hope this is useful.
