    Hi Guys

Repainted the base coats and finished the basecoating on turban centre , also redid the eyes and have finished the medal ribbons as in pic here

    Iffy pics...... image.jpeg

The ribbons will "zing" better once the uniform is completed

    Thanks for looking in

    Hi everyone

Goodness this WIP is nearly a year old !

Just a verbal update .....I am painting the Lancer at the moment , taking inspiration from the box art by sadly missed Eddy Vandersteen who I dedicate my version to

......nearly there with the colour but seems to look different everytime I look ......lol .....

using the newish Scale 75 Artists acrylics .....impressed

I was going to do the pouchbelt next but after basecoating and checking refs there is a blue edging to it

....there is a very fine cast one there but it hardly shows so I have used fishing lead wire in appropriate gauge .......will brush prime and then base coat

.....adding the new edging allows full painting of the actual design on belt right to the edge

    Stay tuned !

    Happy benchtime

    Nap

PS Inbetween this and a few others I have levelled up the medal ribbons on the other piece

You don’t take the easy route do you :D

Interesting to see you mention the Scale75 tube acrylics. Been looking at these as a possibility to re stocking with more appropriate paints than the cheap artist acrylics I am using which are far too transparent and need too many layers.

Don’t want to get too much into ‘paint sets’ like I used to have as I now have a better understanding of mixing colours so would prefer to go with fewer high quality paints and mix as I go rather than have the 20 odd boxes of dedicated paint sets.

Looking good there Busty (and a lot more colourful than the one I'm working on);)
Look forward to seeing the Turban stripes on the headgear. I've found that adding a drop of glaze medium to the colour helps the paint flow nicely when painting thin lines

    Cheers

Turbans are indeed a minefield! - each caste had their own way of tying, some very loosely wound, some very tightly wound and the type of stripes, thick, thin and the combinations of colours were infinite, even within the same regiment.....(y)

Got confused by the many references and opted the easy way out!

I followed the scheme of the Hawk Miniatures website painted by my friend and countryman, the late Eddy Vandersteen.

Ages ago I went into a smal Indian bookshop near the British Museum and asked for a book on pugrees.

After giving me a heated lecture on British imperialism, the owner only calmed down when I told him I am Belgian and paint toy soldiers!!!

White stripes or not, keep going Nap.

    Cheers,

    Pierre

    Hi everyone

Hope your all well and having a good time ...where possible of course !!!

Inbetween me attempting to eat everything not nailed or super glued down I have managed a bit of painting ....not much but did the top part of the tuban at back adding white blue and gold stripes

I have also base coated the scarf at the back but will put pics up when in a better state of completion....I will be visting the blue again once all the stripes are in place

Inbetween this ..I've also been doing a bit of putty work on a Bishop ...more later !!!

    Happy benchtime

    Stay safe
