    Hello fellow Planeteers,

Just finished this old Verlinden bust, as usual sculptor unknown, of a Lieutenant-Colonel of Kornilov's Shock Army in the Russian Civil War, 100 years after the exodus of the White Russians.

Very neat paint job Pierre. A subject I particularly like, and sadly not very popular with sculptors. El Viejo Dragon used to list a 54mm? Kornilov officer which I once painted for a commission. Never thought to get one for myself:rolleyes:

    Thanks Mobo

    Thanks Phil.
El Viejo Dragon made two small busts of Civil War figures too, but otherwise it is sadly not popular.

Even among the sculptors and the general public in Russia it is still a subject that is somewhat delicate. I would love to see decent busts or 75mm figures of the main actors of that conflict, Wrangel, Kolchak, Denikin, just to name a few of the Whites.

Yes, I have the EVD 90mm bust of the White officer. Quite nice but not inspired as yet. It would make the basis of a nice full figure but Jose has no plans in that direction.

I also have the SK Miniatures 1/10 Bolshevik bust, ex Yury Serebriakov which is very nice. It is close to the front of the queue, so I will SBS it.

This is proof it doesn't take great sculpt to make a great looking piece.....excellent paintwork......

    Hi Pierre

Good to see things leaving your bench , nice work on the epaulettes , arm badge and medals

I have a version in the display ...still enjoy looking at it

I remember those EVD ..white metal I think ...but really small

The period is a all too neglected area with plenty of potential subjects

Why not enter something into FOTM ( and vote in previous month ) and our Vignette & Diorama Comp as well

    Thanks for sharing

    Happy benchtime

Looking forward to see your take on the simple yet impressive Serebriakov bust.

Thanks for the compliment Wayne. There are some unnoticed beauties in Verlinden's range.

Well occasionally things do leave my bench, this year 12 in 11 months time to be precise, possibly thanks to corona and forcefully unable to squander precious bench time by wandering through southern lands and toasting to old friends health and those that didn't return!

Don't know, but 13 in a year might be pushing my luck.

This is going to keep me busy through the winter months and no Sir, my bench isn't overloaded!

Thanks for all the nice comments,
