I received my next project on the 1st May 2018. How can I be sure? Well, I posted about it at the time.

    https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/120mm-man-at-arms.115864/

The finished bust I did https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/120mm-man-at-arms-bust.115577/

This figure by Tommi started life as a bust which I have painted but was then given an upgrade to the full figure so I had to have it as I really enjoyed painting the bust.

Currently the upper and lower main body parts are in a clamp after drilling and pinning before joining with epoxy resin. Might need a bit of filler but I will know that in the morning.

I think this will be a fun project :)

    Hi Graham

Nice to see you climbing the painting ladder from your bench

Strange you have chosen this as I have the same bust printed in black waiting in a very long line ...but might just bring him forward .. different period for me

    It's certainly a great sculpt

    Following with interest

    Happy benchtime

It is a very nice bust and I hope it will make a great figure. The joint at the waist needs a bit of work but nothing major.

I am sure you will enjoy painting the bust, I know I did.

I always liked this figure and regret not having picked one up when Tommi was knocking them out.

Been a long day cleaning up and getting the bits ready for this.

Nap mentioned he was detailing the shield on his bust version. The shield is detailed on the inside but nothing on the outer face. So I decided to use some artistic licence and I added a metal strip around the edge from thin metal sheet cut into thin strips. I then added rivet heads corresponding to the inner rivets. Might not be right but it’s fun.

The hands are moulded onto the axe staff and the arms do not have location plugs so it was trial and error to get the arms glued into position while ensuring the attachment points on the hands as there is no adjustment.

Letting everything set overnight then tomorrow it will be final sanding, a wash and primer if I can get my airbrush working. Not seen it for over a year.....

Nice to see another one of these being painted, it was very popular as I only cast 25 and sold them all within a short time frame. I did make a new set of molds but they are now in storage until a time I can get to them again. There is an accompanying figure to go with it but again the the masters are in storage. Gerard Rubio painted the original box art. Will be following this one.

Really enjoying myself Nap. Just loved getting a few tools on the bench, a bit of putty and losing myself in the prep. I have never done anything like the metal strip. Just got the idea and went with it, your fault for saying you were detailing yours :ROFLMAO:

Slowly chipping away at this but I have finally made mind up on the colour scheme and livery. Nice and simple (it has to be for me).

The next two are waiting patiently in the background waiting for their turn. Both cleaned up and ready for a wash and primer.

have to say the two Nuts Plant busts took a lot of cleaning up. Pouring plug on the top of the hat was a bit of a nightmare....... and a step on the mould seam line and the Captains hat didn’t fit but it is all done now.

Getting to the final stage now. I will leave him to fully dry then he will get a coat of varnish before doing the final touch ups. Really enjoyed doing this and I still have to decide on the base but I have realised I am not ready for the ‘Warhorse’ pair, I would just spoil them so I will get back to the very small stash to see what I have for the next one. Still a fair way to go on this yet though.
