    Hi there Georgi

Very nicely sculpted I do like the leg protection you've done ...a solid looking pose as well

I presume there are eye details in place ?

    Is this going commercial ?

    Thanks for sharing

    Hello Kevin,

Thank you for the kind words, and it's honor for me that you like something related to legs! ;)
You have right, there are eye details in place.
Regarding question "Is it going commercial?" - probably yes, if somebody buy the master and produce some copies... :)

Can I just ask how the leg armour works... does it just go over the lower thigh, is it hinged, or what?

I can't find any references to such armour: the nearest are references (but no examples) of possibly metal splint Byzantine cavalry greaves, the atypical splints from the Valdgarde graves (Vendal period) and their known use by various steppe, nomadic and near eastern peoples (over a wide period of time). In all cases they seem to be only the length of the lower leg.

    Good discussions here and here.

    Perhaps looking something like:

    Thank you, MrBMB!
I will see if I can sell the master model to someone to produce it, if not, I will produce it by myself.

    Hello NeilW,

Regarding the legs armor, actually it is strapped under the knees, and is right on the edge of the gambeson, so those who wear it can walk normally, can knee and fight without issues.

OK... interesting: do you have any historical (not re-enactor) references?

The nearest I can find are all knee length, none going above it and then more generally associated with mounted rather than foot soldiers.

eg: the provenance of this is unclear (perhaps Caucasus C7-10th) not Byzantine but illustrates the point:

No, I don't have, I just have used reenactors pictures for the model.
