    Hi folks

Just thought I would share something that I have been working on. I am not a fast worker, in fact I would expect others would call me dead slow. Things in our part of Aotearoa are somewhat laid back.
No get things done yesterday, tomorrow will be fine. Can be frustrating. Not only that work and other projects get in the way. LOL.

    A bit of history:
New Zealand. Army. NZEF. 7th (Southland) Mounted Rifles

Raised on 17 March 1911. During the Great War they formed part of the Otago Mounted Rifle Regiment and served in the Battle of Gallipoli and was then withdrawn to Egypt. They would later serve in France, with the New Zealand Division. They amalgamated with the 5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars) and the 12th (Otago) Mounted Rifles to become the 5th New Zealand Mounted Rifles in 1921.

And a pic of the lads in 1916:

Please note that here we have them wearing a Lemon Squeezer.
My guy will be depicted in working dress c1911 and will be wearing a slouch hat, brim flat.
Figure is dedicated to my dad who loved horses. Used to break in horses for a living as well as farrier work.

    The base kit:

And my excuse for a model

As you can appreciate, a long way to go.
Base coat to "nag" done in oils and the flesh blocked in (as I cover my very sensitive ears) in enamels. As I said a long way to go yet.
One day I will finish it. One day! Promise.

    Stay safe people

Neat project & thanks for sharing Wally.
Look forward to seeing how this comes out.
Thinking Nap did similar with another Andy bust, and Apple & a horse head.

I’ve also planning an Otago’s figure of them at Messines in 1917.
Don’t suppose you’ve got any research details on them on Western Front?
    Thanks in advance.

Nice idea and looking good so far (y)

Where did the horses head come from (scratched or an offer you couldn't refuse...;))

Sorry Mike, only some pics of them at Gallipoli.

The horses head was from an Airfix Bengal Lancer. So, mmmm, the horse is headless.

And yes Andy (AC Models) produced horse and mount. After seeing Naps version I searched and searched but couldn't find one for sale so came up with this option.
Might you I purchased another galloping horse to make the Bengal Lancer into a version tent pegging. At least that is the plan if nothing else.

Sort of based on this pic. Sort of sidetracked by hospital stuff and life in general to do any more on this bust.
