90 mm figure from Pegaso models. 100% acrylic painting. Scratch built base and plinth. Custom made metallic sword blade (painted as well). A magnificent sculpt from Gianni La Rocca.
I have just entered it in the FOTM of this month at the last minute so feel free to like it in the following thread (and other figures from fellow planeteers as well !) :

My goal here was to try to depict one of the king of Sparta in the most historically accurate way possible taking into account the limited artefacts we have from the period and aiming for a cohesive painting. The shield is actually based on two different vases from the era. The inside was painted in 'trompe l'oeil' in order to replicate the thin sheet of bronze which was folded inside. Natural hide tinted in red. Interior lining of the cape was painted grey-blue to balance the "too much red" everywhere on the figure. Blue-yellow lower exterior freehand done to break the very long "red" cape.

Any amount of superlatives hardly do justice to this.
It's without doubt one of the finest examples of this style of figure painting that I've ever seen.
    Everything about it works.
