Progress so far with this pirate standing in the crows nest on top of main mast. Main problem is to maintain distance between mast and crows nest fence on base (top of base 40x40 ) to insure that diameter is valid. Position of arms should be corrected now and some work on head needs to done... this is progress so far... Sorry for not so good pictures, take with phone. Fire at will ;)

Looking good Robert! I think the hat may be sitting a bit too high on the head. It's pretty windy up in the crows nest and he doesn't want it to blow away. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ken

Thanks, Nap, Ken, yes I need to move hat down on back side, especially after I added some wind in his hair (wip) :)

Really great thread, amazing progress. I really like the concept, and it's great to see the development and gradual elaboration of the details (a hat with a decorative hem is awesome). Fine work! Just keep going, it looks fantastic :)

    Cheers Borek :)

Looking great. To my eyes the flag is fine. I lean towards no lantern, though. I like the clean outline of the crow's nest. But of course it's really up to you!

Looking great Robert! I love what your are accomplishing. :)

The lantern looks good but I'd probably leave it off if I was doing the kit. However, that is simply because of my painting limitations. I would want to paint it as if it were lit and then that would assume it was dark outside and that, in turn, would get into the whole reflected lighting on the rest of the figure. Unfortunately not my painting strong point. :(

    Cheers,
    Ken

Interested concept for sure. Like the changes to the hat and the flag is a nice addition, but I'm not sure it should be nailed to the mast. I don't think a pirate would show his colors until the last minute. Just conjecture on my part

Thanks for constructive comments , appreciate it.
2: Ken; one of my friends , who is at home with osl painting , suggested that I should lift lantern higher because at current position light will fall only at crow's nest fence...not on pirate (how dificult is that to paint?? little light on flat surface ?? :D yes sure, told him ,not me);) , after all we can imagine day light situation , lanterne turned off... (personally I would go for that option, because OSL painting is out of my league)

2: clrsgt; good point, but depends on moment in time.... after all , I don't have idea why they rise flag , I just tried to sculpt something :), and setup with flag looked interesting...just like addition of lanterne.... After all , if one day this project goes to casting phase , flag and lanterne could be removed so one can paint whole thing the way he likes...

Thanks for comments once again, and sorry for my english I didn’t mean to offend or disrespect anyone

    cheers

Small update... just sticking flag on pole did not looked right so i made some ropes and small pulley on top of the mast, lanterne redone.. Now I like this setup... I will try to rework ropes so they have some texture on it.. and then on to hair and some other things but end is near..

    cheers
