Albert Ball.....British Ace

Discussion in 'vBench (Works in Progress)' started by EDUARDO SANCHEZ BARBERO, Apr 28, 2020.

  1. Hello everyone
    New aviation aces project.
    It's time for a British Ace.Albert Ball
I ask for help from any modeller who can provide good information about this pilot, what I need most are good images of his face, so that the resemblance is as accurate as possible.
Other important details are, the propeller, of what plane is that propeller, emblems of the hat and decorations of the chest
This is my email dolmanminiatures@gmail.com or put the info here
    Thanks for the help

Interesting your looking at WW1 pilots how about French , USA , like Nungesser or Luftbury and of course Itallian

Pretty sure from looking that it could be his own spinner; so it may well be the prop and spinner from his Nieuport 17 (I think AB used a red painted spinner on this aircraft to give a slight performance increase. He also cut away additional sections of the top wings fabric for better visibility) I also seem to remember reading that he liked to fly without a helmet . . .

Great subject matter - one of my favourite pilots from the first world war
    Cheers

It will be good to see some RFC/early RAF figures. For some reason, the losers seem to have the biggest fan base (French Napoleonic, Nazi, especially SS) rather than the winners. It is worth remembering that the RAF was the first independent air force, most other air forces were either attached to the military or the navy to start with, as was the RFC/RNAS.

This Wikipedia page on Albert contains a photo of all his medals.

The VC was Posthumous so he won't have that in the photo. This will presumably also apply to the Victory Medal.
The rest can be worked out from the relevant date and what medals had been awarded up to then.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    The spinner looks like a SSW/Siemens-Schuckert one or from a Morane-Saulnier,"flying bullet"...….
