As a result of a unexpected win, on an ebay auction, I've got this:

It's either 1/9, or 1/10 - a fairly hefty chunk of resin, very clean, but not a great deal of detail, especially on the helmet.....................

A list of knights that this may represent is included - a bit of heraldic research may be needed, for his shield ( which looks rather small to my eyes. ).
I'm going to only use acrylics on this, I think that the steel helmet/bascinet will look better than anything than I could produce in oils!

Hmm, mine came in a plastic bag, with a stapled Historex header ( probably why the damage occurred ), don't think it's a clone, it has the printed ( french ) history & painting sheet

I've looked around a bit, and some of the Heraldic designs are way over the top! - far too complicated & way beyond my skill set!
At the moment, the favourite is Thomas Camoys, Ist Baron Camoys

It's bold, striking colours - and not too difficult to paint! I'm still looking, English Knights around the time of Agincourt (1415 )

How about the Earl of Oxford, Richard de Vere? Arms are red and yellow quartered (top left, bottom right are red) with a white star in the upper left red quadrant.

thanks for that - I'd found the Fenwick Roll. I realise I might be limiting my search by specifying Agincourt, so I'm looking at 1375-1425 period, I'm in no real hurry, I've got other things ( non-figure ) on the bench at the moment

wow, thanks for all that! I think I may be able to sort one knight out!
Before any real painting starts, I've repaired his 'collar', generally remove all moulding seams, drilled out the air holes in the visor, and opened up the eye slits


......................and primed them. I'm going to have to sort out a plinth for this, it's heavier than the other busts I've done.

One point: as you say, the shield does look rather small (it would be fairly easy to make a larger one).

the shield is slung across his back, it might not be too obvious. I'll have to try and find out what size a shield could be, and if there was a difference in size between horseborn, or foot knight...........

Working from this as the dimensions of a modern replica,

Assuming that the bust is 1/9 (200mm scale ), then the shield should be 59mm wide by 73mm high.
The model size is 35mm x 48mm, so really undersize!

Further to what Mike said, English knights tended to have smaller, flatter shields than most others due to being more foot than mounted troops. By the Wars of the roses most carried bucklers at best.

Yep, Steve and Mike are right in that shields got smaller as plate armour became more common and had pretty-well gone by the mid C15th. Likely that by Agincourt only mounted knights would use shields as many foot knights/squires/sergents etc fought with two handed poleaxes etc.

But, if you want a shield then the model's is def too small.

I've drawn out a shield to my calculated size - its big! The width is OK, but the height! I will have to trim away the bottom of the shield, level with the bottom of the bust - I'm going to make a cardboard template to see how that works - something to look forward to tomorrow...........

I cut some card templates......................


Then blutacked them
Too big!

Just about right - maybe a little tweaking


I may need to just trim the bottom edge of the shield, to follow the cotton line of the bust.......................
I have some thick plasticard, that I can heat bend to form, so hopefully the shield form is sorted. - now back to my other project ( 1/35 Bishop SPG )
