Basecoat or not, the khaki still looks a really good shade & with some highlights it’ll really pop.
And as for the beret colour, Daphne du Maurier would have been proud of the shade of maroon you’ve mixed
(I take it you know that story, being the encyclopaedia of background research that you are.....)

    Hi Neil

That's what I'm hoping for.....the maroon is interesting to try and get some resemblance .....

Decided going to give him the Marrion shoulder arcs with Lt blue lettering

    image.jpeg

Also addibg a hint of the shoulder Pegasus patch below the arc

Beret and badge ( ref below ) done now

..might revisit the beret later when uniform done

Excellent Nap. I like the addition of the lanyards, and I might borrow your idea of adding something to the back of the bust..
I notice that you've gone the opposite from me, hiding the buttons and keeping the pleats :)

Is it my eyes, or does the cap badge look a bit to big, and the wings a bit too short? I'm only mentioning it because I know you're a perfectionist and dont mind doing something over to get it right.

You certainly have given me a benchmark to aim for with mine..

    Cheers

    Hi Folks

Verbal update ....All finished less the fiesh and the badge on the back .....talking of that

    Details of this

A winged horse with a man in a cloak and helmet holding aloft a spear, all in pale blue, on a dark maroon square.
    Label

The image represents Bellerophon riding Pegasus.

It was designed by Edward Seago, the landscape artist and had been suggested for use by Daphne du Maurier, the wife of Major-General F. A. M. 'Boy' Browning, Commander of 1st Airborne Division.

The badge was worn by all Airborne troops, in conjunction with the "Airborne strip", a separate strip with "Airborne" in pale blue on a maroon ground,

    Here's a original from IWM

    image.jpeg

Images of left and right versions as badge worn facing forward

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

Going to do the badge next , then flesh ( eyes are also finished )

    Stay tuned
