    Hi guys,

After a few false starts, finally some solid progress on this 120mm vignette. Depicting an action on the NWF by this regiment, it will feature a sepoy and native officer, sculpted in Milliput over a wire armature and based on contemporary photos. Still a very long way to go, but pleased, so far!

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve(y)

Very nice, Steve. Like the amount of detail you’ve put into the pants & puttees on both so far, should look great under paint.

A bit surprised to see them still carrying rifle-muskets in 1879-80, Steve. I know the Enfield was a pretty rugged weapon, but thought it had been well overtaken by breech-loaders by then. Every day’s a school day though.....

Had a nice minty copy of Party Time Man by the Futures arrive today.......looking forward to playing it later, KTF!

Cheers Chris - they are Snider conversions of the Enfield. The Indian Army post-mutiny were only ever armed with the obsolete pattern rifle, once the British Army had received new issues. This practice lasted up until the First World War.

Top tune that, Chris - enjoy!! KOKO!!(y)

Loving the way you do puttees Steve, just like the real deal. Can’t wait to see these two finished & under paint!

BTW, do you follow Passion & The Veins on YouTube? Great tunes, great dancers & they’re from your part of the world too....

cheers Chris - couldnt think of any other way of doing convincing puttees. A lot you see on figures look like coil springs and are way overdone, IMO. If you look at contemporary photos, they are much smoother wound....

Ill look up Passion and the Veins later - can feel a man-cave session coming on...!! KOKO(y)

They were always meant to be wound tight to support the ankles - I’ve worn a few pairs myself! One old soldier’s trick I learned quickly was to cut half the tape off so you could put them on faster & in the dark if necessary, I could never figure out why the Japanese used to do that criss-cross thing with the tapes on theirs - they must have taken ages to fasten up.

You won’t regret looking up Passion & The Veins - 2 fine-looking ladies, they’re great dancers & their vids always feature some of the rarer tracks. They’re also known as Northern Soul in the Garden - look out for their Bill & Ben video!

cheers Chris - some of the Indian Army units had fancy ways of strapping their puttees - luckily, these guys didnt!!

Ill check Passion and the Veins out - my lad is into NS, too and he knows one of the girls, it turns out!! KTF!!(y)

That proves something which I've thought for years - we're all connected in some way, & what better way to be connected than through Northern Soul!
