    Hi everyone

Found this in a box from Mitches it is of course Lt Col John Frost DSO MC, the commanding officer of 2nd Parachute Bn , 1st Parachute Brigade, 1st Airborne Division

    yy.jpg
So thought I would run this alongside the Veteran which is nearing completion

    https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/veteran.200891/

Did a bit of work on him :
    • Modified battle dress
    • Removed gorget tabs on collar
    • Replaced the rank badges on epaulettes
    • Replaced the ribbons
    • Replaced the capbadge , I will detail this up fully when painting
    • Built up the neckscarf as there was a gap when fitted
    YYY.jpg

The Bruneval raid was the second time the fledgling British parachute regiment with Frost's C Company They met stiff opposition but succeeded in stealing the component as well as capturing a German radar technician. The action resulted in the then Major Frost being awarded the Miltary Cross

    yyyy.jpg
The battalion carried on fighting with the British 1st Army through to Tunis. For his involvement in this action he was awarded his first Distinguished Service Order

    y.jpg
He was awarded a Bar to his DSO on 20 September 1945 for his leadership at Arnhem.
    yyyy.jpg

Since taking the pictures I have added the capbadge

I will replace the red backing with lt blue as per the shoulder titles ( now faded in this original clcloth with printed version)

other versions were worn (felt with backing )

It certain did not merit the Gorget, only worn, in red, by Staff Officers Colonel and above! Officer Cadets had them in white!
A nice Major Caine, VC , Glider Landing Brigades, Staffords available from Sarnia!
Then there were the Free Polish!

    Hi Borek

Thanks for commenting appreciate your time , prep wasn't too much , took off pockets , badges and replaced ...hopefully they will look okay painted ! .....would have extended the arms but not got your skill with putty !

    Hi Steve ,

The one on the back will be 2.5cm square , the arms aren't long enough for a div badge , might get away with hinting the very top , as they were sometimes worn fairly close to the shoulder arc

Appreciate your offer and thanks for commenting

    Hi Oda

Thanks for commenting , got a thing for painting the red beret atm !!

    Happy benchtime all

    Stay safe

Nice project Kev, will be following with interest - especially as I had the privilege of meeting both the man himself, & Sir John Hackett in 1989.

    Hi mate

Nice to have you posting on this

Verbal update ...ribbons now sorted , pistol and lanyard cords in place ( used twisted wire and putty ) will let it all go off then re base paint

Also now have a better surface for the back using thin rolled out putty , I will take this off once dry and paint off then reattach ....that's the master plan at least
