I went back, temporarily, to painting smaller scale figures for a change of pace. 36mm to be exact.

This set, by Oniria Miniatures, is based on the 1940's movie "Northwest Passage" starring Spencer Tracy and Robert young among others.

In 1759 during the French and Indian War, a group of Roger's rangers attacked and defeated a French allied force of Abenaki Indians. The vignette represents the Roger's rangers on their long trek back home after the battle.

The figures, sculpted by Angel, were a pleasure to paint as the detail is fantastic. I added the rifle slings which were made using black electric tape (thanks to Doug Cohen for the tip) and the smallest buckles from some Historex kits in my spares box.

The groundwork was made using pieces of slate combined with epoxy putty. I added a tree casting from Armand Bayardi and twigs from the yard. A few of the leaves are a laser cut paper product with the bulk made from my wife's spice cabinet. Finally finished with Static grass and a few artificial plants.

    Thanks for Looking,
    Ken

Well Ken, superb. Excellent painting and superb scene. This has brought back memories of the film, just wondering which one has the Indian head in his haversack.

Thanks Mike! As long as I have my optivisor, doing a 5 figure vignette is better in 36mm for me. I don't have display room in my cabinets for 54mm groups like this and the time to paint 54's would far exceed my attention span. :)

However, I do understand your comment. (y)

Ken, that is outstanding work my friend!(y) Simply outstanding. Don't see how you can paint detail in that small of a scale. Thanks for sharing!
    Excellent piece of work!

Since I'm in a stay at home mandate, and bored, the hobby keeps me going and out of my wife's hair. Actually, she's in our office/hobby room with me working on her hobbies. :)

Thanks Neil! It is a classic film. Fortunately, Oniria opted for the correct uniforms rather than Hollywood made up ones. Still a classic though.(y)

Thanks Terry and Matt! I do enjoy the smaller scale. 28mm was a challenge, but now that Oniria has standardized on 36mm, it's definitely easier. However, I need to go back to a larger scale for a while to give my eyes a rest. A 36mm now and then is the most practical choice for me.:)
