Yet another Series 77. :) However this is a true 77mm figure and not 90mm. There was a 90mm version of this figure, in a slightly different pose, released by Pat Bird, but I was never able to procure a copy. I believe the 90mm figure is the better of the two, but this 77mm version is still quite nice.

The only change I made was to leave off the tin cup attached to the canteen. It looked like a 54mm version and was way too small. The face leaves a bit to be desired but still paints up reasonably well.

In addition I decided to paint the trousers in khaki instead of light blue as per kit instructions. The uniform was in a transitional period at this time to an all khaki version and a mix of the old and new was common place.

All painting was done, as usual, in acrylics. The base was a mix of epoxy putty, stones and twigs from the garden and static grass.

    Thanks for looking,

    Ken

Very nice job Ken. I must admit that I'd forgotten this one, but I did paint the 90mm version a long time ago.

Another lovely piece Ken - I like the suntanned effect on the flesh areas, shading & blending on the blue shirt, & great groundwork too.
A worthy modern rendition of an older figure, it just shows what quality went into these castings when originally released.

Thanks Mike! The later 77mm releases got less attention than the 90's but were cheaper so I was able to afford them. :) Never thought I be painting some of them 43 years later.

Thanks Chris! I appreciate the comments. I agree on the quality of the castings. Pat Bird was ahead of his time back then. (y)

Thanks Nap! Affordability is why I had the 77mm figure from back then and not the 90mm. I got my collection of 90's within the last 15 years. ;)

I think there were three mounted figures in the 90mm series that I recall, although one was a figure standing next to the horse. American Revolution, Civil War (standing) and a mountain man.
The old web site from the first person to buy the masters and molds is still out there. www.series77.com A great trip down memory lane.

Great stuff Ken, I was a Series 77 fan and I am loving this, seeing these old figures given the modern day treatment, I just hope that you keep them coming.
