    Hi folks

Seeing as I enjoyed painting the 54th Mass bust recently , dragged this out from the GA storage shed!!!

Verlinden of course and still a great sculpt

I have reworked the headband and replaced the cheek and neck pieces supplied as I thought them too thick

Currently thinking about the headdress ...so many variations ( there is PE included so might use them or at least some !!! )

I will add the head ring seen to indicate a married warrior

    As it is now.....

I don't recall ever seeing this one painted up (aside from the box art of course).

Looking good Nap! I've got this one sitting in my GA. Can't wait to see what you do with it. And thanks, by the way, for the great reference material. (y)

Great looking model Nap, I'm really looking forward to how you handle the skin tones as I always struggled to get realistic looking black skin tones.

Verlinden has some exceptional quality busts for my taste, painting an African warrior is not easy I hope to see how he develops the work.
    Enjoy Kevin.

I agree despite the age of the releases there are some really good pieces

As for the skin colour ...I have a few mixes in my head ..see how it goes on !

Great to see this blast from the past. I think this one was a Julian Hullis piece.

I'll be interested in how you deal with the black skin tones. Did a Zulu many years back. Not pleased with the results and been a bit gunshy ever since.

    Many variations of course

I will try and post SBS ...when this hits the brushes ....currently based and primed up in black

One thing is not to make the white of the eyes too stark ...using a light wash of acrylic gray

Here's something Yellowcat posted for Oils but to this I add burnt sienna, umber, black washes in both acrylics and WSO

    Stay tuned

    Happy benchtime
