Certainement pas, je parle un peu français - et dans l'armée française le superieur militaire est TOUJOURS adressé avec "mon ..." et son grade ...

My set arrived this morning and the pictures really don't do the work enough justice. Fantastic set of figures. Well done to Gordon and Carl.

Excellent group. I prefer Carl's version. He's looking at the messenger, but will be doing the other pose in a second or too. I feel it brings more connection between the group. Each to his own though!

Beautiful piece of work. Added to my wish list for sometime this year. Stumbled across this coloured version on the internet. Hard to tell which regiment is being depicted though. Guess it could be the painters choice. Great work!

Looks like the 3rd. Hussars in bivouac, with a couple of ADC's .....The officer in red looks like Heymes, who was Ney's ADC, but I may be wrong.

Assuming (as my monitor suggests), they're wearing darkish green, then it could be the 8th Hussars. See below for colours for 1-10th Regts and some pics from Jouineau Histoire & Collections No2 (1st-8th Hussars: 1804-12).

The officers could be other regiments, though the bicorned one is wearing what could still be the 8th and the other, the 4th (as senior officers they could flout Regns).

Hmnnnn... three opinions so far

As said, my monitor makes their dolmans look greenish :meh: rather than blue

    Jouineau offers:

3rd: I did think of this (the colour of their dolmans is indistinct), but they didn't have the red/white collar and their braiding was crimson
...and he gives 'Argentine Grey' as a distinctly bluish tint:
    H10.JPG H11.JPG

10th: clearly a possibility... but if so my monitor's colour reproduction is even worse than I thought o_O
(and I note that your refs give the 8ths braiding as red/crimson)

As someone said (I think recently on this site), Napoleonic Uniformology is an imprecise science (y)

BTW: just noticed that the bloke at the front with blondish hair is a trumpeter: so his colours are clearly wrong (should be Regt colours reversed)

    eg: for 3d: H13.JPG for 8th H12.JPG for 10th H14.JPG

That's the beauty of this vignette....any regiment of Hussars could be appropriate (y)

Absolutely: it was the coloured version of the print that raised confusion ;)
