Nap, I have just caught up with him, my word what some superb work you are doing here, not forgetting Jimbo starting him all off.

Will he be finished and all painted up for the early Yeovil?, not trying to rush you of course mate.

    Keep up the cracking work.

I have found swearing to be a good thing, specially at full volume, it relieves pressure and frightens the wife.
Very nice work on the arm badges. :wideyed:

I'm sure the answer is obvious, and I've missed it somewhere, but why three Chevrons on the left sleeve, and one on the right sleeve?

Looking forward to see you painting him.

That looks superb mate, cannot wait to see some colour on him.

    Hi Henk

Thanks for looking in ...I too am looking forward to painting !!

As for your question the badge is that of Colour Sgt ( this was changed at a later date to 3 cheverons ...see picture above earlier on in thread )

Little bit of background on this Marine......

He won the VC at the Battle of Innkerman in 1854

Om 16 January 1856 he was promoted to sergeant and embarked on HMS Sans Pareil for Hong Kong on 12 March 1857.

He was promoted to Colour-Sergeant on 29 April, and on 26 June a VC was sent to the Admiralty and despatched to China for presentation to him

On 16 July, he sailed for Singapore and Calcutta on HMS Shannon, arriving in Fort William, Calcutta later that year.

On 28 December he took part in the capture of Canton before embarking on HMS Tribune for Vancouver and San Juan Island.

On 17 December 1863 his final tour of duty came to an end. He was discharged on 16 June 1865 after 21 years and 6 days service - 16 years 94 days of which were spent at sea or abroad.

Cheers Geoff your too kind ...painting is planned but not a quick project !!

    Happy benchtime to all

credit must be said to Jimbo for not leaving the country after my comment ..." I have an idea" .....and ofcourse for the torso work he has done ...

Me I just added a couple of bits of putty or three!!! ...

If anyone is interested the C/Sgt badge took over 5 days to complete ..inbetween patiently waiting for putty to dry ...another thing Jimbo taught me ...don't rush things !!!

    Happy benchtime

First class half figure. Is this going to be available commercially (if so, I'd be happy to provide a pair of legs!!)?
