Since I was on a bit of a roll with these I decided to re-work a MM Hussar into a trumpeter of 5th Chasseurs. A hussar body and legs with a Figurinitaly head. Colpack and hair added in Duro with a few other details on the horse in Miliput (Changes to mouth, nostrils and ears as well as a bit of detail work on the tail and straps similar to my recent 2nd Hussar. I also re-worked the rolled greatcoat and saddle slightly as well as adding a new ring to the strap under the horses head (The name of which escapes me at the moment) I've tacked everything together to get an idea of how it's shaping up although I've still to glue on the front of the sabretache here - it should give you the general idea.
(The rather extensive Miliput on the legs is to repair them after adding long steel pins running into the horse's body) ;)
Not sure about the queue in the hair, which may be removed later (I'd got myself into Hussar mode when sculpting the hair)
    Cheers for now

    Thank you gentlemen :)

Colpack was first roughly shaped with Miliput and then I added the Duro layer to give the fur texture. (I use a piece of brass rod which I've sanded to a point so it's like a brass cocktail stick) I've struggled with Duro in the past, but am gradually getting a feel for it for detail work - using pure turpentine to smooth it helps (water doesn't work in the same way)
    Cheers for now

Hard to imagine anyone improving Mr. Liebovitz's work, but you're able to do so consistently.
Excellent skills on show here... a joy to see, and another little gem on its way. Nice !!

Nice work, the Colpack hace been nicely sculpted and sits firmly on the riders head; looking forward to the finished article.

    Thank you folks :)

:D Praise indeed Mike - Love Mr L's work; it always paints up well and the castings are excellent and so encourage you to spend a bit of time tweaking them and trying out different things. I had wondered about a pair of coarse brown trousers for this fella, but decided to try and reproduce the illustration he's based on instead (I'll save the baggy trousers for another figure . . . .There's a great picture of a Cuirassier in Spain with bags of forage slung behind the saddle and some of the rough cloth trousers made locally which springs to mind)

    Hi Jay - thank you
Chilnscales are adapted from old Historex ones I had laying about - I cut the disk from the end and re-shaped them a bit. Thread ties on the end may just be visible are from rolled and stretched Duro :)
    Cheers

    Morning all
Managed to make some progress on this chap and here is where he stands at the moment. Lots of things still to be done, but I'll fit the accessories to him once he's mounted on the horse. Lille bits of touching up to be done here and there, but generally quite happy with the way he's shaping up. The yellow is shaded by mixing purple in with it (complimentary colours) and after painting all the details and braids I decided it still looked a little too vivid so I added a couple of extra coats of 'greyed out' yellow made by mixing blue and brown into the original colour to subdue it slightly.
I've made some progress on the horse too which I'll press on with over the next couple of days . . .
    Cheers

Smashing work Paul, love the vibrant yellow you've achieved and the flesh tone are nice too. Lovely painting altogether.
