    Hi All,
I have always really admired this figure and I think it was Carl who told me it was a one when I wanted to buy a copy some years back.
So while I'm waiting on my base for the hospital scene and wanting to be productive I have decided to make a version in 75mm. (still no enthusiasm for painting). It's only at it's early stage, this was Sat/Sun work setting the pose and putting some meat on the wire armature.
I can utilise the equipment off my other 75mm 24th figure, so none of that is to make. Hopefully I will get a few hours in before the weekend.
    cheers
    Richie

    Hi Steve,
It will be a challenge, in regard to the detail. You are 50% responsible, I was admiring all the detail on the straps and buckles on the 24th figure and whilst there is no valise I thought it would be a good test in 1/24 scale for me, especially doing the buckles and straps.(y)
    cheers

    Hi All,

Managed to a few hours in today and started to put some meat on the legs and some straps on the torso. Will need to let dry and harden up now before I begin refining.
Next I will start the bottom section of the doublet.
    cheers

    Hi Richie,
He's looking great, you maybe want to look at the other jacket, I can send you pictures tomorrow if you want. The tunic worn by the 91st in Zululand didn't have the Inverness flaps, it was more similar in shape to the cutaway jacket worn by Scottish troops later.
I've seen an officer in that tunic though so I could be wrong, the photo of the larger figure you posted above is wearing the cutaway.
Sorry be a rivet counter, all the best.
    Scotty.

    Hi Scotty,
Thank you I have that book you posted the image from, the tunic with the flaps is certainly niche. I will amend my build to the one above. Thank you for the prompt mate.

    Hi Kev,
Thanks, yes it's from an Osprey book.....you mean you don't that one in your library:LOL: Elite Osprey 32 British Forces in Zululand 1879.(y)

    Hi All,
A bit more work done, next I will need to fix some of the defects and sand down a lot of areas before adding some of the finer details. But here it is to date warts and all.

This is coming along really nicely Richie. Love your enthusiasm for this particular period and looking forward to seeing this develop further. Would love to visit the South African/Zulu battlefields one day.

    Hi Kev,
Thank you, I really did not think the Nap Peart Library would be incomplete.:)

    Hi Neal,
Thank you, with me it's the old 80/20 rule. 20% talent 80% enthusiasm. Me too about the battlefields would love to do the trip, especially guided by Ian Knight.(y)

    Hi Mike,
Thank you, I'm so pleased you like the dynamics on this one, setting the wire armature was key and took a lot of fiddling to get right initially.
    cheers

    Hi Bob,
Thank you, neither do I fancy painting them either. I'll give them a good go and if I fail I'll send out an appeal in our club to the tartan painters.
