Romans in our hobby are so common that every time a new one arrives many of us are like : "Oh God another Roman".NOT THIS TIME! Altores has managed to produce a Roman that is not usual or common! A completely unresearched and underrepresented subject,The Jewish Revolt,in grand style by a veritable master,Alexander Deryabin and by one of the top 5 companies worldwide.Judaea was one of the hardest postings for any Roman soldier during the imperial period and this vignette proves it:).

VERY original set-piece and I really like this. The only observation (and perhaps it is just the picture?) is that the handle for the gladius looks massive in relation to his hand (see Pic 4). I hope it's just a trick of the camera as this will definitely be on my 'to buy' list.

Now when will you be releasing that wonderful Bavarian infantryman noted in the Sculpting Forum?

Thank you for that insight. Is the first Bavarian infantryman the drummer?
Will you ever sell directly from your own website like CHRONOS?

Thanks you. The drummer is a bit from a different series. If we are talking about linear infantry from Vladimir Sychev, then there will be fighters of the first three lines - the first two shooting and the third loader. I don’t think we will do our store. But you can always write to us and place an order. altoress@mail.ru

Thanks! I thought so too, until I put the first 75mm piece on the shelf. But I collect both 54mm and 75mm.

hi, its great, I suppose if you collect and have large dioramas which I do 54mm is great scale, all the best

Cracking piece. Particularly like the Sicarius, great movement and accurate middle eastern facial features.
Scene conjures up an attack in the streets of Jerusalem perfectly ......question for roman buffs. Would the legionary have patrolled with a pilum rather than a spear?

Good point, Del, ...probably not, as the pilum is a throwing weapon. I agree that a spear is more likely, but the vignette is certainly an excellent piece of sculpting. Perhaps it can be changed at some point.

Many thanks! Yes, this can be changed at any time, since the pilum is made not only as a separate part, without a hand, but it consists of two parts. Replacement will not be a problem.

Hmmm. No replies to this one Del  Having just got this little vignette I was wondering exactly the same thing.

(Auxiliary troops tended to use spears, but I'll have to delve further to see if I can find any information to confirm otherwise I'm going to leave him grasping a pilum)
    Cheers
    Paul

ps - it's a great set for anyone wondering, lovely animation and good details just waiting for a lick of paint . . . .
