    When painting there are many pleasing possibilities! I have listed you briefly, which ...:

    1st Hussar Division:
    Regiment Lubensky (1),
    Regiment Sumsky (2),
    Regiment Grodnosky (3),
    Regiment Olviopolsky (4);

    2nd Hussar Division:
    Regiment Akhtyrsky (5),
    Regiment Belarussky (6),
    Regiment Alexandriysky (7),
    Regiment Mariupolsky (8);

    3rd Hussar Division:
    Regiment Izyumsky (9),
    Regiment Elizavetgradsky (10),
    Regiment Pavlogradsky (11)
    Regiment Irkutsksky (12)

    [IMG]

    Please note:
    This French specialty of "countered colors" for trumpeters uniforms did not exist at the Russians! Instead, trumpeters had so-called "swallow nests" on the upper arms of their uniforms, as the figure correctly shows.

    Unfortunately, there are too many errors, but it's too late to fix them. All hope is only for other artists who will undertake to do the conversion, in order to fix all the shortcomings and errors. In the meantime, this figurine is historically far from its name.

    It will be very difficult to do, because I can use English only with the help of an electronic translator, which far from everything translates correctly, especially texts rich in special terms. Adding images to this text demonstrating how it really was will increase the already enormous time for creating a description by several times, even for a description in Russian. It is possible that something will gradually appear here fragmentarily if Alexander, the head of Altores, does not mind. But I am not yet ready to postpone my work for the publication of mistakes.

    I'll be ordering in the New Year mistakes or no mistakes-thanks for the uniform reference also-the difficulties of language always makes it difficult to reference Russian Material-lots of pictures around but very little explanation of what they are. Thanks for cross referencing on here.

    Thank you friends for your attention to our work! Dear svt, of course I am not against publishing materials that will help to fix our mistakes in the future. Regarding this work, we used the help of several consultants. Their information, images and tablets in many ways contradicted each other. We do not deny the existence of possible errors and contentious issues. But now we know exactly what sources we can believe and the next figure will be much closer to the declared name. Thanks!

    There are still really controversial issues, but there are older images, which in some places were erroneous. The topic is interesting, but for some people it seems complicated, but, oddly enough, it is much easier than the Russian XVIII century. )

    I will try, slowly, from top to bottom to make out the details.

    На голове гусара кивер с султаном красного цвета, полагавшийся ротным трубачам, но на мой взгляд он тонковат, но этот вопрос дискуссионный - каких-то разъяснений по его верхнему и нижнему диаметру я не встречал пока что, не считая сомнительных данных из многотомника Висковатова "Историческое описание одежды и вооружения российских войск. Часть 10" (с. 216 в петербургском издании 1900 года), где указано, что при высоте 9,5 вершков, нижний диаметр (ширина - в оригинале) был 1 вешок, а верхний аж 3,25 вершков.
    sultan 01 viskovatov t.10 (s.216, izd. 1900 spb Balashev).jpg
    Учитывая то, что 1 вершок равен 44,45 мм, получается, что при 42 см высоты султан должен был иметь внизу примерно 4,5 см и вверху около 14,5 см в диаметре, что кажется слишком огромным, особенно глядя на образцовые рисунки Орловского. Вероятно где-то в тексте ошибка, что не редкость в таком старом издании. В данном вопросе я обычно пользуюсь упомянутыми в предыдущем предложении рисунками Орловского, просто заимствуя примерные пропорции султанов оттуда.
    sultan-proporcii.jpg

    Репеёк у основания султана выглядит сзади овальным, но должен быть плоский. Сравните изображения.
    repeyok 01.jpg - это на фигурке вид сбоку
    repeyok 02.jpg - а так должно быть (здесь унтер-офицерский репеек изображен тоже сбоку)
    repeyok 03.jpg - так выглядит он на настоящем кивере (на фото офицерский репеек, но форма у него была такая же как и у нижних чинов).
    Делался репеек из дерева и для нижних чинов обтягивался сукном - у гусарских полков цвет его был таким же, как цвет шнуров мундира.

    Петлица, которая прикрывала спереди карман для крепления султана, проходившая из под репейка и до пуговицы в центре круглой кокарды, делалась для нижних чинов из сложенной вдвое черной тесьмы, но на обложке она выглядит как металлическая или как просто белая, что не верно.

    Этишкет.
    Косицы выглядят, простите за сравнение, как кукурузные початки, а там было конкретное плетение, схема которого отлично видна на этой иллюстрации,
    etishket 01.jpg
    но стоит заметить, что это схема, а плетение было еще более плотным, как на этом гусарском кивере,
    kiver 001.jpg
    в самой широкой части косицы были примерно 3 см шириной. Должно быть так примерно, как на фото выше, и не иначе.
    Кисточка слева огромная очень у фигурки, она была примерно 35 мм высотой (сравните пропорцию на фото).
    Длинная прядь с кистями и плетеными ромбами (кордончиками) была длиной чуть меньше полуметра: сам шнур от места крепления на кивере и до первой кисточки 35 см, первая кисточка 3 см, далее два шнурка 2 см, кордончики с диагональю 6 см и на их концах две, параллельно висящие, кисточки высотой 3,5 см - вся эта прядь висела на уровне 4-й сверху пуговицы гусарского доломана.
    etishket 02.jpg
    А у фигурки этишкетный шнур с кистями свисает почти до 10 сверху пуговицы, что тоже не верно.

    Кивер.
    Его форма и пропорции получились как нечто среднее между кивером 1808 года и кивером введенным в русской армии Николаем II в начале 20 века. Какой кивер носили армейские (не гвардия) гусары в российской империи в 1812-1814 годах? Установлен был лишь один образец - 1808 года (на фото выше он есть, а вот тут, на схеме ниже и размеры есть),
    kiver 002.jpg
    существовал еще гвардейский образец, с развалом, а так же не официальные, как у нижних чинов, так и у офицеров, которые массово стали появляться во время Заграничного похода 1813-1814 годов.
    Спор о том, каким был неуставной кивер, откуда он появился, и в какой точно период, может быть бесконечным - исследователи оперируют документами, в которых действительно отсутствует кивер с прогибом и развалом, ведь все эти подряды на выполнение заказов, приказы, уставы должны были сохраниться, а их нет, есть лишь приказы, чтоб офицеры, замеченные за ношением неуставных образов, привели себя в должный вид. В то же время изобразительные источники, вопреки всем уставам и отсутствию документов, показывают массу киверов именно неуставного вида. В данном случае, лучше все же опираться или на уставной образец, или же на сохранившиеся неуставные, хотя, большинство из них (если не все) являются более поздними репликами. Хотя есть и обмеры с саперного кивера с прогибом (без развала), сделанные известным в среде занимающихся историей военного костюма реставратором Виктором Малышевым (картинка ниже), можно и на эти размеры опираться - всё будет ближе к тому, что должно было получиться.
    kiver 003.jpg

    Галстук.
    У гусара почему-то отсутствует галстук из черной материи, который должен закрывать шею полностью под подбородок, сзади он застегивался на крючки или завязывался узкими тесёмками.

    Чешуя на подбородном ремне должна быть желтого металла (латунь), не зависимо от того, белые или желтые пуговицы имели гусарские полки на доломанах и ментиках. Цветовая дифференциация подбородной чешуи в гусарских полках была введена в ходе послевоенной мундирной реформы в 1816 году.

    Остальное позже.
    Прошу прощения за то, что так много текста и на русском, а не на английском - из-за обилия специфических терминов, перевести это для меня задача невозможная, т.к. я только еще больше запутаю англоязычных пользователей неверным электронным переводом.

    The rest is later.
    I apologize for the fact that there is so much text in Russian, and not in English - because of the abundance of specific terms, translating this for me is an impossible task, because I’ll only confuse English-speaking users with incorrect electronic translation.

    Here - as proimised - the translation of Serge's post (I've tried my best!)...:

    On the hussar's head is a cockade with a red feather neck that should have been used to identify the troopers of the troop, but in my opinion it is thin, but this question is questionable - I have not yet received any explanations about its upper and lower diameters , apart from the dubious data from Viskovatov's multivolume "Historical Description of the Clothing and Weapons of Russian Troops. Part 10" (p. 216 in the St. Petersburg edition of 1900), which states that at a height of 9.5 points the lower diameter (width - in the original) was 1 Wershok (= 44.45 mm, M. R.) and the upper one was 3.25.

    [IMG]

    If one assumes that 1 Wershok is 44.45 mm, it turned out that the spring socket should have been around 4.5 cm below and a diameter of approximately 14.5 cm above at a height of 42 cm, which was too large seems to be, especially when you look at Orlovsky's exemplary drawings. Somewhere in the text, a mistake in such an old edition is probably not uncommon. In this matter, I usually use the Orlovsky drawings mentioned in the previous sentence and simply borrow the approximate proportions of the spring support from there.

    [IMG]

    The cockade at the base of the Featherstutz looks oval at the back side, but should be flat. Compare images...:

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The tresses which covered the front pocket for attaching the Featherstutz, passing from under the burdock to a button in the center of the cockade, was made for the lower ranks from doubled black braid, but on the cover it looks like metal or just plain white, which is not true.

    [IMG]

    Etischket ( = braided lanyard)

    The pigtails look, sorry for comparison, like corncobs, and there was a specific weaving, the diagram of which is clearly visible in this illustration:

    [IMG]

    But it’s worth noting that this is a pattern, and the weaving was even more dense, as on this hussar shako (= Kiwer, M.R.)

    Foto

    in the widest part of the braid were approximately 3 cm wide. It should be as roughly as in the photo above, and not otherwise.
    The tassel on the left is very huge at the figure, it was about 35 mm high (compare the proportion in the photo).
    A long strand with brushes and woven rhombuses (cordons) was a little less than half a meter long: the cord itself from the point of attachment to the shako and to the first brush 35 cm, the first brush 3 cm, then two laces 2 cm, cordons with a diagonal of 6 cm and at their ends two, parallel hanging, tassels 3.5 cm high - this whole strand hung at the level of the 4th button from the hussar dolman.

    [IMG]

    And on the figure, the braided lanyard cords with tassels (= Etischketnij, M. R.) hang down to almost 10 on top of the button, which is also not true.

    Kiwer (= Chako)

    Its shape and proportions turned out to be a cross between a 1808 shako and a shako introduced in the Russian army by Nicholas II in the early 20th century. What shako did the army (non-guard) hussars wear in the Russian Empire in 1812-1814? Only one sample was installed - 1808 (in the photo above it is, but here, in the diagram below, there are sizes)

    [IMG]

    there was still a guards model, with collapse, as well as unofficial, both among the lower ranks and among the officers who began to appear en masse during the Overseas Campaign of 1813-1814.
    The debate about what the unstoppable shako was, where it came from, and in what exact period, can be endless - the researchers operate with documents that really lack a shako with deflection and collapse, because all these contracts for the execution of orders, orders, charters should to be preserved, but they are not there, there are only orders so that the officers noticed wearing unregistered images bring themselves to their proper appearance. At the same time, pictorial sources, contrary to all the charters and the lack of documents, show a lot of shakos of a particularly irregular appearance. In this case, it is better to rely either on the statutory model, or on the preserved non-standard ones, although most of them (if not all) are later replicas. Although there are measurements from a sapper shako with a deflection (without collapse) made by the restorer Viktor Malyshev, famous among those who are involved in the history of military suits (the picture below), you can also rely on these sizes - everything will be closer to what should have happened.

    [IMG]

    Tie.
    The hussar for some reason lacks a tie made of black cloth, which should cover the neck completely under the chin, behind it was fastened with hooks or tied with narrow ribbons.

    The chin chain (the chin strap) should be made of yellow metal (brass), regardless of whether there were white or yellow buttons on the Dolman and Pelisse. The color differentiation of chin chains in the hussar regiments was introduced during the post-war reform in 1816.

    Translator's note:
    I am absolutely sure that I have correctly reproduced the content of Serge's post here.
    It is possible that I have translated one or the other technical term incorrectly.
    This is also due to the fact that a number of technical terms have been derived from the German language into Russian - and can be falsified when translated into English.

    In less than a year, I had a little time to show some more errors in the sculpture. This time it will be about how the uniform should have looked. Sewing and braiding I will not affect now, because there are a lot of text and pictures about how it should have been with the hussars and, in particular, with the trumpeters of the hussar regiments.

    Вот выкройка доломана (ментик выкраивался аналогично, только был более объемным, имел другой формы обшлага и подшивался мехом). На что стоит обратить внимание по этим выкройкам:
    выкройка доломана.jpg
    - рукав выкраивался не из прямоугольного куска материала, но имел более сложную форму и состоял из двух деталей - наружной и внутренней, следовательно спереди и сзади рукава имелись вертикальные швы (кстати у трубачей эти два шва обшивались тесьмой в цвет шнуров);
    - пройма рукава была с внутренней стороны с большим запасом материала, и когда руки были опущены, то под мышками образовывались характерные глубокие складки (делалось это для того, чтобы при поднятии руки мундир не тянулся вверх, и рука могла свободно действовать саблей, пикой, огнестрельным оружием);
    - сам рукав был довольно длинный, доходил почти до костяшек пальцев, закрывая у свободно опущенной руки всё запястье и почти полностью пястную часть кисти руки;
    - на спине сразу ниже линии талии, у боковых швов выкраивались своеобразные складки, удерживавшие гусарский пояс-кушак от сползания;
    - в верхней части проймы, там где наружная половинка рукава стыковалась с плечевым швом доломана, внутри не подкладывалось никаких "плечиков" или "крылышек".

    внешний вид мундира 01.jpg
    Вот фото фигурки, где я зелеными линиями показал, как должны были выглядеть рукава.

    Сейчас у фигурки плечи выглядят так, словно это плечи современного пиджака, у которого под плечи подкладываются усиления, чтобы сделать их более острыми и более широкими, но так не должно быть.
    пиджак.jpg
    Плечо мундира той эпохи было покатым, повторяло примерно форму плеч человека, носившего этот мундир, никаких крылышек или усилений из картона, фетра, войлока, ваты, кожи и т.п. в плечах не делалось.

    Там же на фото фигурки я показал передний край воротника зелеными линиями, где в нижней части при застегнутых до верха пуговицах, половинки воротника смыкались.

    Фото фигурки сзади с имеющегося ракурса не дает увидеть как там устроен доломан, но судя по ментику, доломан тоже не имеет особенностей, а должен таковые иметь - это те самые складки ниже линии талии.
    доломан сзади.jpg
    Подобные же складки имелись и на ментике, но на фигурке это почему-то отсутствует.
    внешний вид ментика 01.jpg

    О мундирных пуговицах.
    Спереди средний ряд пуговиц был сферической формы (паялся из двух полусферических деталей), но у фигурки он плоский, что не верно.
    пуговицы 01.jpg
    Пуговицы, находящиеся на плечевых шнурках-погончиках, у основания шеи, были обтяжные сукном мундирного цвета.
    пуговица на погончиках.jpg

    В завершение о такой мелочи, как гусарский пояс-кушак. С 1808 года гусарский пояс был двухрядный и длиной такой, что оборачивался вокруг талии дважды, таким образом выглядел как четырехрядный пояс, но на фигурке показан пояс-кушак более ранний, что не верно. Кроме того, кисти кушака не имели никаких плетеных косичек, а висели на обычных тонких шнурках как у офицеров, так и у нижних чинов (смотрите фото).
    шнурки кушака 01.jpg шнурки кушака 02.jpg

    That's all for now.
    To be continued.

    Errors or not I love this figure and will be buying it from El Greco when they have it in stock. I sincerely hope that the errors listed, some of which seem quite minor, will not put you off of extending the range with further figures from this period.

    SVT might be a possible resource for the future unless of course he has some connection to a competitor?

    My translation of Serge's post - as promised:

    Note please:
    I translated доломан ("Doloman"/Hussar Jacket) with "Pelisse" and ментик "Mentic" (Hussar fur jacket) with "Dolman", what seems right for me, because the text only makes sense this way and with the pictures.

    Here is a pattern of the pelisse (the Dolman was cut similarly, only it was more voluminous, had a different cuff shape and was lined with fur). What you should pay attention to with these patterns:

    [IMG]

    - The sleeve was not cut out of a rectangular piece of material, but had a more complex shape and consisted of two parts - outside and inside, so there were vertical seams on the front and back of the sleeve (these two seams were woven with the color of the Cords sewn);

    - The armhole of the sleeve had a large overlap on the inside, and when the hands were lowered, characteristic deep wrinkles formed under the armpits (this was done so that the uniform did not stretch up when the hand was raised and the hand was free) weapons could operate with a saber, a lance and a firearm);

    - The sleeve itself was quite long, reaching almost to the ankles and covering the entire wrist and almost the entire middle part of the wrist on the free hand;

    - On the back immediately below the waist, strange folds were cut out at the side seams, which prevented the hussar belt from slipping;

    - No “shoulders” or “wings” were placed in the upper part of the armhole, where the outer half of the sleeve was connected to the shoulder seam of the pelisse.

    [IMG]

    Here is a photo of the figure where I used green lines to show how the sleeves should have looked.

    Now the figure's shoulders look like they should be the shoulders of a modern jacket with shoulder pads to make them sharper and wider, but that shouldn't be.

    [IMG]

    The shoulder of the uniform of that time was sloping, repeating roughly the shape of the shoulders of the person who wore the uniform, without wings or reinforcements made of cardboard, felt, felt, cotton, leather, etc. in the shoulders.

    In the same photo I showed the front edge of the collar with green lines, with the halves of the collar closed in the lower part with buttons buttoned at the top.

    The rear view of the figure from the existing perspective does not show how the pelisse is cut there, but does not appear to have any special features; but it should: namely the same folds below the waist.

    [IMG]

    There were similar folds on the Dolman, but for some reason this is missing at the figure.

    [IMG]

    About the uniform buttons.
    On the front, the middle row of buttons was spherical (soldered from two hemispherical parts), but the figure is flat, which is not true.

    [IMG]

    Finally something about hussar sash. Since 1808, it had been double-breasted and so long that it was wrapped around the waist twice so that it looked like a four-breasted belt. However, the figure shows an earlier belt, which should not be the case. In addition, the wing brushes had no braids, but hung on ordinary thin shoelaces from both officers and the lower rows (see photo).
