I was given this discontinued Tommy's War bust at Bugle Call at the weekend by a friend.




He had started to painted it but lost interest, so I got some paint stripper on him and got the thin coat off and then gave him a good scrubbing with a stiff toothbrush and left him to dry.



He has come up quite well so next job is to prime him.

Now for the history bit.
He is a Private of the 2nd Battalion Gloucestershire Regt. fighting in Salonika during 1915.
The 2nd Battalion was attached to the 81st Brigade of the 27th Division at this time but was transferred to 82 Brigade in November 1916 and finally became absorbed into The Rifles in 2007.

I have now painted his face with acrylics for the eyes and Artist's Oils for the skin.

You never sit still, do you Geoff? It seems like only five minutes since you finished the Series 77 Hussar & the APG Continental Line Officer bust!
This looks like another winner, lovely flesh tones & the eyes really stand out.

Many thanks Chris, I didn't think I was that quick and I had run out of stuff to do for about a week waiting for Bugle Call to come along so I could buy some more, but pleased you like him, I will let the oil paints dry now before doing more to him.

Blimey Geoff you must have a feather in your pants. I am sure this will a beaut.

Thanks Bob, I spent yesterday prepping up the 4 I got at Bugle ready to prime this morning so I have them all ready to paint.

I have hospital appointment in Exeter just after lunch tomorrow to check the old pacemaker is working OK so no painting will be done as it's over an hour both ways on the bus so that's wasted a day.

Definitely no messing about with you, Geoff - excellent time management!
Four on the go at the same time........ I have to work on one right up to completion, otherwise I find I lose focus.

Thanks Chris, I only prime them in one go, if I have a few as it saves paint when cleaning out the rattle can nozzle, I usually paint them one at a time after priming, sometimes two, but not more.

Thanks Nap, checkup went fine and they gave me a heart monitor to place next to bed so they can check it remotely and I don't have to go back for 3 years instead of yearly for a check, so to me it means they are happy with my check up.

That is a nice bust and for a freebie I am chuffed.

I did a bit more yesterday evening and this morning so progress pics coming up soon.
