    Hi eveyone

Adding to my ever growing and creaky WIP shelf ..this time going musical

    image.jpeg

    It is of course this

    image.jpeg

I will be calling mine " STALINGRAD SYMPHONY"

Always wanted this ...it's now currently based up and primed in black

Did a lot of prep on him especially the weapon , removing resin etc around the trigger , then drilled the weapon out and all the holes , then fitted a piece of tube for the barrel inside ...a lot of careful drill work

Reworked the violin detailed up including adding strings with invisible thread ..tried several things including wire ..just didn't look right , added chin rest as well

Used these pics for reference including an original WW2 instrument

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.png image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Here's the violin and bow ( also stringed ) ..curtesy of iffyvision !

    image.jpeg image.jpeg

No pic of the primed bust yet !

    Thanks for looking in

Is this the right site? https://www.acmodelsspares.co.uk/ Thanks!

    Cheers!

Nice choice there Kev, something a bit different from the norm & excellent reference pics as always - I like the one of the Razvedchiki at rest playing their instruments, it’s nice & sharp & shows that no two of those amoeba-pattern suits were the same.

The thing I like about Andy's busts is that there's always a back story behind them....this one particularly. A tough Russian soldier
who has already endured only God knows what loses himself for a while in whatever music he's playing (My guess is that he's in
the middle of one of those plaintive emotional pieces that are always so haunting). Do it credit ? No sweat, Kev, you'll breeze it.

    Uniform Krasnoarmejets since Sumer 1943...:

Original shoulder boards ("Pogony") from March 1943 for officers and enlisted men...:

Colors and facings for military branches and troop units..:

    Please note:

The golden Pogony were actually intended for the parade uniform, but were often and gladly worn in the hinterland and the stage!

Just not at the front, as they made the officer the ideal target for enemy snipers!

But: With Pogony you can not call the bust "Stalingrad Symphony", because these things were introduced afterward! In addition, your violinist wears a summer uniform and the fighting an Stalingrad was from September to March.

Better: "Kursk Symphony" or "Kiev Symphony" ...

    Any more questions: please ask!

    Cheers

    Hi Folks

It's iffyvision time using these references I added epaulettes and rank and also the award on right as well as base coating the uniform and cap

Weapon just basecoated in a black ...might used a graphite pencil on that ?

Also primed the violin and bow...very fiddly !

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Que the very iffy iffyvision pics

    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Thanks for looking in

A lot of work even though the uniform is rather drab. Look forward to more.
