Today I visited the site and there are lots of great items but.....no prices. That makes it very hard to order something...

I have all the key samurai movies in my collection - more than 500 - and have never seen anything like this. The painting is way over the top and does in no way reflect the type of restraint in colour and visuals the Edo-Japanese are known for. what we have here is a painter's vanity.sorry.

Might be true but hell, I'd give my right foot for having the skills to paint such level of "vanity"...... but, then again...can't wait to see your version of this trio in the right colors and, of course, the same quality, Helm!!

Ps, I have ALL the movies Clint ever played in and/or directed but still aren't able to say "Make my day" like he did....LOL.

Yeah those are ceremonial cloth ! Not fitting for this fighting Samurai family almost thrown out of bed. The topic at hand ,every day clothing of the warrior class ,is extremely complicate and a casual observer will almost always get it wrong. A pity that this painter messed it up big time as Ruslan's Samurai family group is such an excellent project !

Rich people even have casual clothes. And Roman conceived this family as a family close to the emperor.
And I also have a movie about three musketeers!

So your movies trump actual costumes? Ok, I'm done. I hope to see some of your work posted as clearly you're a master of the art.

I think that some people are getting a bit anal about this. The work by Silver Dream Studio is in the long established tradition of Russian school of decorative painting. As a business it reflects their knowledge of what their collectors want.
Take it for what it is. If anyone feels it necessary to correct the historical accuracy of the costumes simply buy the figures, paint them and post the final 'accurate' results. Chill out and appreciate the remarkable painting skills.

I'm collecting historical figures for a reason and not fantasy ! As I expect the sculptors to stick to historical accuracy by doing some research I expect the same from painters, especially those working professionally. What's so difficult investing a couple of hours in research before painting a figure ?

So basically you're telling hobby and pro painters how they should paint........ if you are a collector as you say then it's simple .... don't buy something that doesn't meet your standards or commission work to your specification.

I can agree to an extend if a sculpt of a figure is lacking historical accuracy etc. and this is critisized by PF-members. But if you are provided with a figure without these faults the painted version is just an individual paintjob on display. While I might not agree to the color sheme the artist has chosen I still can appreciate his painting skills and come up with my own historical correct version instead of being a wisenheimer on this thread.
If you collect figures for a reason it does not mean that everybody has to do it for the same reasons.
