a bit more progress on this one, with the addition of the haversack strap and the HMG canvas pouches. Still much tidying to do and smaller detailing to be added. Scale 1/9, sculpted in Miliput over a resin dolly.

Cheers guys. Kev - its based on an amalgamation of illustrations in the Osprey book, The Chinese Army, 1937-49. I may add the hilt of a sword on his back, not sure yet..! I would like it to be a commercial piece, however, as you say, like most of my stuff, its very "niche" and most painters/modellers/manufacturers seem to prefer "tried and tested"!

Thanks Kev - Unfortunately, if I was only to sell a couple, then its not financially viable. Been there, done that!

Ta Kev - it still amazes me, with the whole plethora of subject matter out there to explore, that the same old subjects still get rehashed over and over again!!

True! Manufacturers want to play safe on subjects, so stick to tried and tested, as that's what they say the customers want. As a result, the punters only get the same old diet of subjects - and so it goes on...! Or maybe, its because some people dont like to research new stuff and prefer to stick to well-documented subjects....

Here here Steve.I like so many genres and eras but i just cant get into Napoleonic era.Colourful uniforms just doesnt appeal.As a few know im a modern era buff especially S..A.S.But like the ww1 era and Victorian.
Im an old dinosaur i know.

Inspirational stuff and again great results with the Miliput, it would be great to get a wee bit of an insight into how you work with the Miliput, I use it myself for minor alterations and gap filling but have not arrived at having full control.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I never thought that working with Miliput was any more difficult than any other medium! As its all Ive ever used for years, I suppose Im used to it. Im not really aware of any particular special techniques that I use, other than an old wet brush to help smooth out some of the folds. As Ive mentioned, it behaves very much like clay, so, again, its something Ive just been used to....!
