    That's an excellent bust, and some great references shared here, too.

    The gray was a shade called "pike gray", "Hechtgrau", wasn't it?

    Your right ref colour though many references description range from blue gray to green gray !

    Yes, I recall a similar comment in some of my references, too. The color goes back at least to the army of Maria Theresa, and scholars and authors debate what the exact color was. I don't know if any paint manufacturer has ever produced it commercially.

    Looking forward to your progress Nap...….house moving is no picnic.....I think the hardest part is for the movers...Just think about it; they have to pick up the whole damn house and move it from one place to another. You think that's easy?.....I think not.

    Well I took this bust back out the storage depots shelf of shame .........this is in the line up waiting behind my bench ...it will be the next after TFB's Hessian Fusilier

    Not bad really ...only started this thread 3 years ago .....LOL

    Need to sculpt the double headed eagle on the belt plate

    ...using this as a reference

    Hi Nap you’re doing a great job on this.well you have the colour down for when you get our Austro Hungarian Alpine trooper. I think both busts will complement each other.

    Been working on this more , finished the uniform colour.....might revisit ! .......collar patches backing ,marksmanship award done , medal and belt buckle completed ....will tidy up the small overshirt on collar then it's onto the collar badges and leatherwork
