Started this awesome figure a couple of days ago with cleaning and priming.
Yesterday evening the first brushstroke's after months. I came home from work early to finish the face. The left eye is corrected (pictures are unforgiveble) after seen the pictures, but the eyeball isn't well sculpted. I tried to do it better then Carl:LOL:. At last I have a eyeball.
The red on the lips is not so red as in the pic's.
Let me here what you guys think.
And a great welcome will be a color mix for the Uniform (oils)
The paint is still wet, so it looks a bit shiney

    Thanks Zeno,
Nobody react on the colormix so I tried myself.
I mixed cadmium red, with burnt umber, a little touch of blue, cadmium orange, Yellow ochre, untill I got the look of the Vallejo British Uniform color.
I'm pretty satisfied at the moment (Picture following this weekend).
But If I look at the pictures of the Gordon Highlander's the uniform is more brown then the Khaki of the British Uniform.
    gordon highlander react.jpg
But this the end of 1917 when it is more this Brown.
I have some more questions about the Balmoral Bonnet. I've seen pictures with a red pom-pom....I don't know if that is right.
ON the other hand I've seen more other color versions then what I have done, namely blue, red, but I think that don't belong to the Piper's.
So far, I'm pleased with the achieved result.
But alot of questions are unsolved.
Most of the info I got is here:

Thanks Marc for the mix. Looks good. (y)
I browsed for the pom-pom color. I couldn't find anything documented but, from what I noticed, the color is same as the bonnet. Is true, I noticed red and also blue pom-pom but not sure about them. I'll look around and if I get something documented, I'll let you know.
Will follow closely, Marc! I'm sure that this bust will be a great one!
    Cheers,
    Zeno :)

Looking good so far Marc. As we say, he's got a 'guid blaw' going. Don't think you could have done any better on your uniform mix (y)
    I'll be following progress.
    Cheers
