Hi all,
I ask the question to clarify some of the confusion I feel when looking for a new camera.

This isn't intended to be Brand "A" is better then brand "B", this often personal choice.

What I am looking for is the features you fellow shutterbugs prefer.

So far, here is my check list....

Digital SLR
Inter-changeable lenses (Macro & general all rounder, for example)
Optical viewfinder
Display screen larger then a postage stamp.
Tripod mount-ability (standard now a days, I know)


Not so sure about
type of memory cards
power cells (gosh, that sounds so hi-tech)
integral flash or separate (hot shoe?)
The option to do some basic manipulation of images within the camera (such as reformat size from 5MP down to VGA for posting here)

Of course, like life in general, if we all had a wheelbarrow full of cash, well.....

Don't know about the rest but flash cards SD for example have speed ratings, that's one factor in the price you see at the store when viewing a 8Gb card for $14 versus an 8Gb card for $30 - the cheap ones are usually rebadged under the stores own brand..
