Does anyone know what this book is like as reference? Written by Charles Mackubin Lefferts and Edited by Alexander James Wall. Published 2012. Uniforms of the American, British, French and German Armies in the War of the American Revolution, 1775-1783

The image is from the Book Depository, same on Amazon. First published in the 1970's so this is reprint.

No uniform in particular, just interested in whether it is worthwhile purchasing as a reference source for AWI.

Charles Mackubin Lefferts was an excellent illustrator, I think it's a good buy

I do not know how many drawings there are, but it is a posthumous collection of his work

    Hi Chris,
I've had a copy of this book for years, so the 2012 publication must be a re-print.
It contains detailed descriptions of uniforms together with b/w plates by Lefferts.
The American section is expanded with details taken from contemporary newspapers of clothing worn by deserters.
If you want a look inside, I can scan and send you a few pages.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

I tried that link, but couldn't get any prints. I think you have to apply for them (I could be wrong).
I've found another link to his prints, which I've included in the new post under his name.

He's on the list now Keith. Thanks for reminding me.
Just open the artist index and click on the link against his name.
Or, in this particular case, click HERE.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Yes
    you have to request

there are various links where to find reproductions in a special way in large size painted format

sometimes some design is on ebay

pinterest can be another source .... but on this site you have to pay attention to the captions. Many times they are wrong. It is a copy / paste made by non-experts (most of the occasions)

I totally agree with you Giorgio about Pinterest. It's very 'hit & miss'.
Have a look at the link that I found. Just follow the 'Lefferts' link in the Index.

    Cheers,
    Andrew
