I'm pleased to announce a new product in the popular diorama base series.

The 5x5 product features a modular trench base with separate 'bottom' and 'side' pieces which together depict a WW1 trench scene. The different pieces feature different methods of trench construction (sandbags, corrugated iron, wood, branches) and the modeller can select any individual 'bottom' and any individual 'side'. There are 5 'bottoms' and 5 'sides' giving a total of 25 possible permutations.

The bases have been sculpted by the incredibly talented Andy Belsey (whose other work can be seen on PF) and come in 1/32 scale with a footprint of 50mm square.

    Code; TW32D07
    Title; 5x5 diorama bases
    Sculptor: Andy Belsey
Price: £12.00 per base (£6.00 per section)

To order visit www.tommyswar.com and search for TW32D07, from the drop-down menus you can then select which base and which side you require.

My thanks to Andy for being such a great friend and coming up with the concept and creating the bases.

Ooooh lots of variations here all so well sculpted and presented for sure

These could be looked at as a background for the WW1 busts that TW releases

    Thanks for sharing

He certainly will. You can actually get two figures on the bases with a tight grouping. This is one of the earlier bases, but they have the same 50 x 50mm footprint.

There's an article in the next Military Modelling on how I made the masters for this 5x5 range. It includes a bit of history and explanation about British trenches, as well as description on how I make sandbags, duckboards, corrugated iron, etc.
