    Hi my friends,
my next work is Trumpeteer Major. This is very nice figure from Maurizio Bruno (you are my respect;) ). And I´m really enjoy this painting.
The red and the white colours are no problem for me. But the gold is nightmare. And now come the request...
Can you help my with this colour? Can you write my your procedure.
Thank you very much for your time...

If you see my post in the painting section, my sapper has the chin straps on the face of the colback!!

If you like the colour and matches your needs here's the mix:

    Base: 878(Old Gold) + 822(Germ.Cam.Black.Brown)

    Wash(950) Black + 822(Germ.Cam.Black.Brown)

    Lights: 878(Old Gold) + Gold(996)

    Highhighlight: Gold(996)(if needed)

    Lowlights: 822(Germ.Cam.Black.Brown)

I find it better if after the base colour do the wash and then pick the lights!!

    Afterall here's my idea,

    Hope it helps

    Regards,

    Samwel Vella

And now come the pants....because I´m very patient and detailman, I paint the pants 3-4 days. Today it is only "preshading". I will continue next day....

First I need the preparation...;) :D

....then I mix only two colours...Cadmium red deep and Brown Madder (W&N Nr.056)

I paint the basic oil-filter, then I paint the shadow with Brown Madder and lights with Cadmium red...
    Front side...

    and the back side...

For the next work, I need two brushes, Kadmium red deep, Brown madder and tissue.
I make the small and fine drybrush. I correct the shadows and more highlight the lighs. Sorry for the bad photo....
After 1-2 days, I mix two matte varnish 1:1 and apply on the pants.
I correct the shadows and lights again....
...and paint the seam (suture). The pants are ready...I think so...;) :D

    Hi Milan
You are very brave; to me red and white are nightmare colours I find that the red always bleeds thorough into the white. If you have the solution to this problem please let me know.

My friends, thank you for your comments.
Damian:The undercoat is panted with Humbrol Red Matt. Sorry, you are right, the base oil-fillter is mix of cadmium red and brown madder (80% Cadmium and 20% Brown madder)
Peter: My nightmare colours are yellow, gold, skin... ;). When I highlight the red colour I use only two colours. Red and Brown madder. I use yellow for the top light sometimes. I don´t use the white colour. Perhaps you use for undercoat white colour or highlight whit white colour. When do you write us your painting process we can halp you resolve your problem. I think so...:D :D
