Without further ado I have made a start on this figure after finishing the Hero of the Revolution. This is also by Dan as regular readers will know.
My problem is to make the uniform look red without looking too red and at the same time making it look like leather. Does that make sense?
Any comments more than welcome although this is still in the early stages please offer any help you feel necessary .

nice start mate!! I cannot comment on accuracy because i have no idea about the period. The lower part of the legs could denefit from a little bit more detail.

Can we have more photos please?

We must have been posting at the same time Periklis. Thanks for looking. I haven't done much to the boots yet, but yes you are correct they require some work.
As for the eyes I thought that too but in real life the look ok, I'll take some more pics and see how they look.
Here is the illustration Dan used as reference when he sculpted the figure.

Thanks Periklis I took a close up of the eyes and the left eye just needs a little more definition and that should do it.
    Thank you for looking.

Outstanding, Roger! The red leather is excellent!! And the face looks great ;)

You must be doing absolutely nothing but eating, sleeping and painting!! I know, I know -- what else is there?! :)

    All the best,
    Dan

I know Dan but what a great way to unwind. It does help that the weather is pretty awful at the moment. Glad you like it so far. It's progressing pretty well, to the extent that I've got a couple of figures ligned up for myself before I go back to work with a little vignette in mind.
