    Hi Dear Friends,
Had a good weekend, so far, and finished my vignette.
Two fantastic sculpted figures from Mr. Raul Garcia Lattorre. It was a very nice "journey" to paint and build this vignette. A challenging composition, using only 2 figures but I hope you'll like what you see.
The painting progress is presented in this thread:
    http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/the-saxons.64885/
Took me more to build than I expected but with all the summer distortions (Soccer World Cup, good weather, etc.) no wonder.
Thanks a lot for watching and let me know your thoughts. It is always room to improve.
Cheers and hope you'll like what you see.
    Zeno :)

Looks great Zeno. The colours of the figures work well with the stone in your groundwork.

    Outstanding!!!
Both figs are great, but as always, your groundwork is amazing. From the composition to the tiny details like the fungus on the trunk... looks fantastic!!!

    Bravo... but, what's next?

Beautiful paintjob and amazing groundwork - IMHO the red bush/tree in the background does reduce the natural feel of the groundwork to some extend. I would consider to shorten/replace/leave him out. But that´s maybe just me. Otherwise excellent as always!

Can only agree with the others. Great and I like the base very much but as Martin I am not sure about the red tree in the Background. Something disturbs me but can´t really say what. The groundwork is amazing and looks natural but the red tree looks for me like something only plug in the the ground. Perhaps you try out something in the colours of the groundwork (like that on the attached photo) and what would not be so high. Meerschaum.jpg

You've done an equally superb job on the groundwork as you did on the figures. With one reservation: I agree with Martin and Ulrich that the red tree looks out of place and not especially natural. It draws the viewer's eye immediately to it, and so detracts from the rest of the vignette. The tree (rather than the figures) becomes the main focal point. My personal opinion is that the vignette would look much better without the tree. Otherwise, everything else is top-notch.

Thank you so much for your awesome feedback! (y)
This is the reason why I like PF so much. No choice but to improve. I totally agree about the tree. I wasn't sure from the beginning, but I wanted to see your opinion. Was an easy fix.
Here it is again and let me know your thoughts.
    Cheers,

Superb painting and groundwork.........but......for me personally.....the tree added a third dimension.....IMHO....it was not the red leaves.....but the red stems/branches that were the problem...
Had you painted these a more natural colour, it would have looked right.

I'm with Ron the tree lifted it out of the ordinary style of base and added an extra dimension I'd try it again painted a slightly less vivid colour and see what you think. The figures and base themselves are superb
