First pic of my latest project.
Looks a good start .....I presume it's the MJ bust ?
Thanks for sharing
A great project Tony.
Nice to see something away from the norm.
I'm a big fan of the musical and love the music and the storyline. I was surprised to see Gerard Butler played the Phantom in a recent screen adaptation of the musical. This bust is Gerard Butler as the Phantom, by MJ Miniatures.
First step was to paint the face in acyrylics and then apply dots of oil paint and lightly feather the oils over the skin and blend. The next step will be to define the wrinkles and folds and get some good smooth transitions.
The eyes are critical to this bust. They must be both menacing as well as romantic. I'm not sure how to achieve that balance but I'll have a go. The other area of interest will be the silk waistcoat, which will have quite an rlaborate pattern and textures.
Great start. Will follow to see the how you will finish the bust
Very, very nice first touches, face is amazing. I'm very interested and looking forward to the next sequel, it looks really luxurious for now.
excellent start on the skin.
Wonderful to see you back in action Tony
My wife's favourite actor too ;-)
You've captured "brooding" well so far.
A different figure from what you used to paint Tony but the same talent with all your works!
So far so good (from a Bryan Adams disc).
That is going to be one slick looking piece,....love that sculpt.....
Coming along beautifully!
Great work on this very challenging bust Tony. Usually you have to magnify a piece to get a sense of the painting, first time I've ever had to reduce an image to get this and it just gets better and better.
Another smack outta da park Tony! Beauty, love the eye glints, perfecto!
Small steps over the past weeks but the face is now done. I'll put some effort into the red waist coat to create some subtle textures and patterns.
You captured that daunting and intimidating stare perfectly, btw.
