Lovely bust Stuart!
Any chance at all of their being other shako's for the head?
t will be an easy conversion but just in case and no doubt you've akready thought that out.

I like the sculpting, but the depiction in the Rooster Cockburn style doesn’t evoke the Russian campaign for me..with Russian my mind jumps to something worn and tired...cold...even by Borodino distance would have taken the shine off uniforms...don’t get me wrong it’s a wonderful piece by a master..but if the goal includes something to convey mood..that’s not what I get from it..

Many thanks but I wasn't trying to portray a hussar at the berezina , I have another older sculpt of this period that like you say is older and worn.
My initial idea was to portray a hussar on the retreat as it's started to get cold...taking on Cossacks with only his pistols. Yes a bit gung ho but not improbable.
I daren't show my works in progress anymore due to being copied. I wish I could at times as I could explain why and what I am trying to achieve but the market is competitive and I sculpt slowly .
Maybe my berezina sculpt if I produce it will convey this period better

Another great piece. I like the shako for a nice change. Although the blue and yellow does give the piece a nice splash of colour

This is a superb piece of sculpting, love it a lot and like you say at "the beginning of the retreat". This is going into my GA but won't be long before he is painted. Get it past Mrs G first. Looking forward to your next one.
