    Hi Ben,
    As always great painting Mate.
This is a great sculpt from Maurice with fantastic detail and you have done it good justice.
Just one observation, the oil painting that you show in your post is of Captain Alexander McInnes, 2nd Life Guards, by Ramsay Richard Reinagle.
Alexander McInnes, was a Captain in the 2nd Life Guards, hence he is wearing the red jacket. I may be wrong but I think that the Royal Horse still wore the blue jacket in 1830.
This does not detract at all from your superb work on this bust.
    All the very best,
    Keith

    Your picture
    I disagree Marc
Your picture here Marc is a present day Lifeguard. The current two regiments are The Lifeguards and The Blues and Royals. The Blues and Royals are the result of the amalgamation in 1969 of Royal Horse Guards (The Blues)
1650-1969 and The Royal Dragoons (1st Dragoons)1661-1969. This Regiment still has the Blue jacket...........Using travel agents totting their cheap deals is not the best place to do you research Marc.

Check out this web page from the National Army Museum London
    http://www.nam.ac.uk/research/famous-units/royal-horse-guards-blues.

    And; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Horse_Guards

There was a directive from William IV around this time (circa 1830) that British Regiments should all have the red jacket. Many of the blue jacketed regiments reluctantly changed to red jackets. But a collection of paintings commissioned by William IV in 1832 from A.J. Dubois Drahonet show; Captain Everard Bouverie, Troop Corporal-Major Robert Goldie, Kettle-Drummer George Augustus Ludwig Rungeling and Private Samuel Bowden all in their traditional Blue Jackets.
    See what you think Mate;)
    All the best,
    Keith
