Excelent!, thank you for sharing the mix.
I believe i bought a bottle of violet red last year from prince august acrylics, which is the same as vallejo, same codes too, and i think that could be simar to the burgundy color.

Thanks, guys. MarquisMini, yes, that violet looks pretty close to the Burgundy Wine shade I'm using. It might be a little bit lighter, but you can always add a touch of black or black red if you feel the shadows need more.

Someone on another forum asked for a close up so I thought I'd share it here too. I just cropped the original digital photo and did not resize anything so you get the detail view. I used a lot of parallel strokes to try to build up a texture to the gold details.

Wow,it's not often a paint job stands up against that kind of magnification... but this work certainly does. Great detail work indeed.

    Well done

I managed to get in a little more painting time on this project. I extended the red down the rest of his pants and applied the top levels of highlights (Fire Red + Fair Skin). Up next: boots and hat!

That’s so good, it makes me sick. Why do I even bother?

Seriously, that’s a stunning piece of painting.

Thanks, everyone! I took a little break from this project but now I'm back to hopefully get it all wrapped up. I put some paint on the base and boots, then attached the scabbard and painted that too. I was trying to get a shiny black look for the boots and I think it turned out pretty well. Some of the blends still need work, at least in person. I've got a couple more small details and then the hat to do. I'd also like to use some pigments on the base to give it a bit more depth.
