Here are the first stages of a new bust. Marechal Jean Lannes, one of Napoleon's favourite generals, mortally wounded at Essling in 1809. Early stages yet so the likeness still needs improving. I am basing his profile on this contemporary portrait medallion.

    Sculpey firm, as usual.

Could probably do a little more work on the hair Colin, it doesn't seem quite right, but apart from that looking good so far.

I figured I would hear from you quickly Pierre. I will try to do him justice.

Have you seen this site? http://www.jeanlannes.com/ It's a well done profile of Lannes' career with lots of historical paper from a collector on another sute I frequent - Gentlemen's Military Interest Club.

    Cheers

Although in its early stages Colin you have definitely captured the main structure of his face. (y)

That's good to hear Del...thanks. I need to completely rework the mouth and area under the nose. But better than some of mine as I come out of the blocks :)

Another fine bust in the making. Like Derek said, you seem to have the major planes of his face settled well.
A good foundation for the rest of the project.

Look forward to seeing it next week

Head mostly done. Gloss is due to sculpey glaze to reduce dust and increase strength of blowing/tossled hair.
